Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.The incumbent is accountable for providing trade execution services and advice to ScotiaMcLeod Wealth Advisors, iTrade and Scotia Trust Relationship Managers.

AccountabilitiesChampions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledgeExecute trading strategies and trade orders by : Identifying and developing strong relationships with Wealth Advisors and other Scotia Wealth Management businessesEducating Wealth Advisors and others on market practices and procedures as they pertain to executing transactionsProviding trade execution and trading market insights and provide guidance to Wealth Advisors and others in complex investment / transaction situationsProviding expertise, advice and insight to ensure that Wealth Advisors and clients understand the risks and possible outcomes of executing a transactionRemaining up-to-date on any market, product or regulatory changes / requirementsAdhere to trading compliance requirements, internal / external guidelines, rules and regulations by : Ensuring all business is conducted within internal and external guidelines, rules and regulationsIdentifying control gaps in trading operations, and recommending changes to mitigate operational riskMinimizing transactional or market risk exposure for the organization and / or clientsActing within defined trading limits of the organizationActing within the defined or implied rules and regulations applied to the marketplaceEnsuring trades are completed within the regulatory and business rules of the underlying productManually booking a significant number of trades accurately, in a timely manner and within market convention while maintaining the highest level of focus on the trade detailsAddressing and documenting trading errors or omissions immediately once identified, escalating as appropriateMaintaining the highest level of integrity and ethics as it pertains to the trading role and the sensitivity and confidentiality of accessible informationKnowing and adhering to all regulatory requirements, compliance and internal business policies as they apply to designated instrument tradingUnderstand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisionsActively pursues effective and efficient operations of his / her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML / ATF / sanctions and conduct riskChampions a high performance environment and contributes to an inclusive work environmentDimensionsTrading, facilitation and support services, covering, fixed income and foreign exchange, are provided to ScotiaMcLeod, PIC, and iTrade within Global Wealth Management.

Trade execution and facilitation on orders greater than $100,000 or foreign bonds.Use internal and external pricing sources to ensure best execution for client orders.

New issue distribution on provincial and corporate debt.Manage the contact with issuers on our GIC board, 30 individual issuers.

Will be required to manage all trading activity within the Bank approved annual Limit Control Sheet (LCS) covering position, product, term, market (exchange) and currenciesEducation / Experience5 years of fixed income sales and trading experience particularly on a Retail Fixed Income Trading DeskPost-secondary degree, with a preference for a Commerce or Business degreeLicensed with the IIROC (Canadian Securities Course, Conduct and Practices Handbook)Preferred CFA Charter holder or candidate for the designationPreferred multi-lingual English / French / SpanishExtensive and in-depth knowledge and understanding of regulatory rules and trading market practicesKnowledge of MMI / ION fixed income trading system, Charles River and Broadridge ADPSoftware proficiency in : MS Excel, MS Access, MS WindowsUnderstanding of Programming Languages : JavaScript, HTML, PERL,VBA, SQL is an assetLocation(s) : Canada : Ontario : TorontoAs Canada's International Bank, we are a diverse and global team.
