This is accomplished across four geographic management zones which are responsible for the operation of acute care health centres and the provision of a variety of inpatient, outpatient services including academic, tertiary, quaternary care and community based programs and services including continuing care, primary health care, public health, and mental health and addictions.

Responsibilities Reporting to the Management Team, the Team Leader acts as a Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) training consultant responsible to provide staff CBT training, supervision and practice assessment across the Western Zone (WZ).

The Team Leader may be required to consult with the Mental Health & Addictions (MH&A) Education and Training Committee, professional practice associations, regulatory bodies, universities and key stakeholders as required by the Management Team.

The Team Leader is responsible to : A) Develop excellence in CBT practice that contributes to clinical, educational and research goals which support the vision, mission and values of NSHA.

B) Developed, implement and maintain a CBT Model of care in accordance with established best practices, professional practice colleges (APNS, NSCSW, etc.

and the priorities for the MHA Education and Training Committee. C) The Team Leader will teach, supervise and assess the CBT practice of staff (e.

  • g. social workers and psychologists) who have recently completed Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) training. The Team Leader will have a PhD in clinical psychology;
  • will be formally trained in CBT and will be formally trained to provide CBT supervision and practice assessment. The Team Leader will provide group and individual CBT training and supervision by Skype and in person to numerous staff groups across the WZ.

    The Team Leader will provide CBT supervision to staff who work with children, youth and adult. The Team Leader will provide CBT supervision for staff who treat patients diagnosed with both mood and anxiety disorders.

    The Team Leader will create CBT training, supervision and practice assessment sustainability by training other staff to provide these support to their colleagues.

    Qualifications PhD in Psychology required Registration with Nova Scotia Board of Examiners in Psychology (NSBEP) or eligability Three (3) years clinical experience at the PhD level Formal training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) Experience training and supervising practice assessment Ability to provide leadership to the Management Team in the development of goals and objectives for the Mental Health & Addictions staff regarding CBT training Ability to assist in the development, implementation, and evaluation for professional development for the Mental Health & Addictions staff regarding CBT training Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred Successful external applicants are required to provide a criminal record check (including Vulnerable Sector Search) to Human Resources before starting employment and assume any associated costs as a condition of employment.

    Hours of Work Part-time (50%) Long-Assignment; 37.50 Hours Bi-weekly. With an anticipated start date of January 7, 2019 and an expected end date of January 7, 2021 (approximately 24 months).

    These are anticipated dates and may be subject to change. Travel to other sites throughout the province is required. Valid Nova Scotia driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle is required.
