We are currently seeking a Legal Assistant Services Specialist to join our Toronto team of Legal Assistant Services Specialists in a Floater capacity.

In this role, you will be responsible for providing legal and administrative support to teams of Legal Assistants, Lawyers and Paraprofessionals in the Litigation Practice Group .

The support will include a variety of administrative, legal and general office tasks. Broad legal knowledge and skills with experience in multiple legal areas is an asset.

In this role, you will be tasked to :

  • Drafting, editing, revising and proofreading legal documents for content, grammar, spelling, punctuation, consistency and accuracy;
  • Filling temporary dedicated assignments assisting Lawyers / Paraprofessionals when needed;
  • Administrative support such as electronic and hard-copy filing, coordinating meetings, appointments, travel arrangements, completing expense requisitions, transcribing dictations, etc.;
  • Accounting / billing support.
  • To be successful in this role, you possess :

  • Community College Certificate or Diploma, or equivalent combination of experience;
  • A minimum of two (2) years’ experience as a Litigation Legal Assistant. Strong working knowledge of the Rules of Civil Procedure is required;
  • Strong knowledge of commercial list procedures will be considered an asset;
  • Excellent organizational / follow up skills; attention to detail, proofreading and accuracy are required;
  • A positive and enthusiastic approach to day-to-day workflow is considered an asset;
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and exercise discretion when necessary;
  • Ability to work well under pressure, multi-task, prioritize work, and take direction.
