The Data Analytics Engineer works with business partners, data analysts, the data success team, and data engineers. This role is a domain expert on our data analytics platforms, provides consulting, builds data analytics tools, and provides training on the F5 data platforms.

Primary Responsibilities

Data Community Leader

  • Provide expert consulting to data analysts at all levels on how to use data and our data analytics platform to create useful insights
  • Create and support standard methodologies around data analytics and data visualizations
  • Run the analytics center of excellence
  • Deliver training on data analytics platforms (Tableau, Power BI, Snowflake)
  • Ensure data models developed by data engineers meet the needs of data analysts and work well with reporting tools
  • Data Platform Administration

  • Set permissions in the data analytics platforms (Tableau Online and Power BI)
  • Create and maintain support documents for the data analytics platforms
  • Be the relationship owner with platform vendors
  • Data Analytics Developer

  • Contribute by providing innovative solutions, and delivering improved upon methods of data presentation by focusing on the business need and the business value of the solution
  • Synthesize and translate business data needs into creative visualizations
  • Blend data from multiple systems into a common logical and physical model
  • Build business facing views to make data consumption easy and intuitive
  • Build Tableau and Power BI data sources to be used for self-service analytics
  • Be able to write SQL to do initial data mining that can then be communicated or translated to peer ETL developers for database development
  • General Responsibilities

  • Solve Business challenges by helping to translate the meaning of data, impact of data, and be able to effectively communicate the story that the deliverable tells or the problem that the deliverable solves
  • Development would include requirements gathering, iteratively working with the business to understand their needs, and how to best visualize their data, followed by design, deployment, and ongoing enhancements.
  • Build prototypes for demonstration and illustration purposes for peer groups, Business partners, or senior leaders
  • Support peers, and collaborators as a subject matter expert (SME) through troubleshooting, analysis of results, Production Support, and identification of opportunities to solve Business problems through BI
  • Look for opportunities to improve current processes or find efficiencies by applying industry standard methodologies for BI development
  • Other Responsibilities

  • Responsible for upholding F5’s Business Code of Ethics and for promptly reporting violations of the Code or other company policies
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :

  • Excellent analytical, critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Ability to learn and understand business processes and relationship of systems and applications used to accomplish those processes
  • Skilled in data visualization and telling stories with data
  • Mentor and influence others through example
  • Time management and organizational skills
  • Self-motivated, sets and communicates goals, self-accountability, prioritizes work
  • Develops and maintains relationships with business partners
  • Partners with internal and external peer groups to design and implement solutions
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Qualifications :

  • 8+ years of experience with BI Development; dashboards, reports, and metadata layer, using Tableau
  • 8+ years of experience working with Business stakeholders or executives to translate Business needs into data visualizations
  • 8+ years of experience writing SQL or using SQL generation tools to extract and model data for reporting
  • 2+ years of experience building data pipelines
  • Degree in Computer Science or Mathematics preferred
  • Experience in data science or predictive modeling a plus
