Role : SLR has an opportunity for an entry level Environmental Scientist / Engineer / Technologist in our Nanaimo, BC office.
The role will predominantly consist of implementation of data collection programs (field work) including soil, groundwater, surface water and soil vapour sampling to be used for site assessment and remediation.
Project work includes site assessment and remediation of upstream, mid-stream and downstream oil and gas properties, pipelines, and other commercial / industrial properties.
Responsibilities : Participation in a team environment, working closely with Project Managers, and co-workers to complete work programs Collection of background information, participation in field data collection programs, and preparation of reports, including site plans Perform field work safely and as directed, including soil sampling, groundwater sampling and monitoring, soil vapour sampling, and site reconnaissance Compile field and analytical data for technical summary reports Technical Skills / Abilities / Experience : 0 -
4 years of experience in the areas of contaminated site assessment including Phase I and II ESA experience preferred; remediation experience is an asset Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential with demonstrated skill in technical report writing Knowledge and practical application of Health & Safety requirements unique to surface investigations and contaminated sites Willingness and ability to travel and conduct fieldwork Ability to work alone in remote locations and adapt to conditions / resources Education / Qualifications / Memberships : Degree or Technical Diploma in environmental science, engineering (e.
g., environmental, geological, and civil), hydrogeology or geology Professional status or eligibility for professional status with a professional organization Personal Attributes : Demonstrated team player Strong attention to detail and accuracy Valid driver's license
