About the role :

Come join our growing HR Team and growing company in assisting in the various functional areas of HR! This position will allow you to play an active role in contributing to the HR team, while developing your skills in the HR field.

The HR Assistant carries out responsibilities in some or all of the following functional areas :

HRIS, processing employment information, maintaining confidential records, responding to inquiries, assists in informing new employees of human resource policies and programs as needed, reporting, administering benefits Other responsibilities include (but not limited to) :

HR database and personnel files

  • Maintain the HRIS database, obtaining and verifying information for inclusion in employee records
  • Maintain employee files and the HR filing system
  • Prepare and maintain reports that are necessary to carry out the functions of the HR department Administration
  • Interpret, assist and advise employees and managers regarding leave management, status and entitlements, benefit administration, and HR procedures and policies within the specified guidelines
  • Provide general administrative support such as preparing correspondence (i.e. employment letters, hire / orientation / benefit packages, memos, etc.)
  • Manage HR / Payroll Helpdesk inquiries, via email, phone or in-person
  • Administer Calian's benefit program
  • Remain current on all HR policies, procedures and forms
  • Remain current on legislation for all provinces in which Calian does business
  • Coordinate and conduct new employee orientation
  • Foster and maintain a solid, collaborative team relationship with internal and external customers The qualifications :
  • A college diploma in human resource or in a related field (i.e. Business Management)
  • 1 year experience in a Customer Service / HR environment
  • Strong administration skills (communication, interpersonal, organizational, attention to detail)
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Bilingual (English / French) Assets to have :
