  • We are currently seeking a Senior Civil / Geotechnical Engineer Team Leader to work out our Thunder Bay, ON office.

    What we are looking for :

    The senior civil / geotechnical engineer team lead is responsible for leading and directing a multi-disciplinary team of staff completing mining, infrastructure, and geosciences related projects.

    Primary responsibilities include :

  • Coordinating projects in one or more of the following areas;
  • Tailings Dams.
  • Mining infrastructure.
  • Civil infrastructure.
  • Foundations.
  • Responsible for the management and supervision of the civil / geotechnical team.
  • Infrastructure projects including bridges, roads, water management structures, tunnels, rail, water, sewer, etc.
  • Coordinating, supervising, and performing research and field responsibilities such as geotechnical investigation, geotechnical instrumentation, and monitoring, etc.
  • Generating and assisting with the preparation of deliverable documentation such as proposals, technical reports, and qualification packages.
  • Managing and / or generating deliverable documentation of various projects including technical documents, research projects, case studies, and non-technical reports.
  • Conducting technical peer reviews of technical reports.
  • Consistently executing prescribed technical procedures and work plans;
  • Participating in project management meetings, office meetings, health, and safety inspections.
  • Maintaining a commitment to exceeding client expectations by consistently delivering high-quality work.
  • Consistently maintaining professionalism and objectivity while working with colleagues and clients who require varying degrees of support.
  • Handling difficult situations with tact and diplomacy to maintain positive working relationships with all internal and external contacts;
  • Conducting project administration tasks as required, including timesheet generation and project invoicing.
  • Performing other related duties as required.
  • About You :

  • Undergraduate degree required.
  • Possession of a Professional Engineering (P.Eng) designation required.
  • Proven business development experience.
  • Minimum of 15 years’ Post-designation experience required in a consulting engineering environment.
  • Experience supervising a team of engineers and technologists.
  • Experience and knowledge with Canadian Dam Association Guidelines.
  • Experience and knowledge with tailings dams design and construction supervisions, tailings rehabilitation, and mining infrastructures would be an asset.
  • Experience writing proposals, specifications, case studies, technical and non-technical reports.
  • Solid understanding of provincial and federal regulatory requirements acquired through experience and education.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license required.
  • Possession of or eligibility to obtain a security clearance required.

  • Strong organization and planning skills.
  • Strong research and technical writing skills.
  • Ability to present information concisely and clearly.
  • Proficient with the use of MS Office.
  • Ability to effectively oversee contractors and subcontractors.
  • Ability to understand and focus on new ideas and concepts to coherently communicate in writing.
  • Strong listening and interpretation skills, ability to retain salient points, and synthesize information on complex issues.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to scheduling changes and occasional overtime, evening, or weekend work.
  • Ability to effectively and efficiently problem-solve and tackle new assignments.
  • Able to handle multi-tasking and maintain focus in a busy workplace.
  • Able to meet tight deadlines and work well under pressure.
  • Ability and willingness to travel on remote sites in Northern Ontario or anywhere in Canada.
