The Manager Radiology Systems, Quality & Support is a key member of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (VIHA) Medical Imaging Department management team responsible and accountable for planning, organizing, and directing staff and activities for the implementation and use of the Radiology Information Systems (RIS), digital picture acquisition software (PACS), systems quality assurance, and clerical support services for multiple site operations.
Responsibilities include day-to-day and strategic management of information systems, including successful planning, organization, implementation, utilization, and upgrade and ongoing administration and roll out of RIS and PACS and associated applications;
strategic management of systems quality assurance including overseeing the planning, delivery and evaluation of VIHA's Medical Imaging Systems Quality Assurance Program;
and planning, utilization and delivery of clerical support services. Key areas of responsibility include strategic and operational planning, leadership, financial accountability, and service delivery.
Education, Training And Experience
A level of education, training and experience equivalent to a Bachelor degree in Business Administration and / or Health Information Science with 7 years experience in a large hospital medical imaging department, and including project management experience.
Skills And Abilities
Demonstrated working knowledge of Medical Imaging operational components, processes, systems, computer networking / systems and integration, and general workflow.
Experience with Radiology Information Systems (RIS) and digital picture acquisition software (PACS) system architecture, design, and digital networking or telecommunications.
Medical Radiation Technologist experience would be an asset.
Demonstrated understanding of Medical Imaging policies, principles, procedures, and workflow.
Effective meeting and project management skills.
Demonstrated ability to establish effective working relationships with radiologist, technical, operational, and vendor staff.
Demonstrated knowledge and practice in effective problem solving techniques and using scientific methodology.
Business systems analysis and design procedures and techniques.
Business and imaging systems technology (RIS, PACS) methodologies, analysis, architecture, and design techniques.
Business and imaging process analysis and re-engineering techniques.
Data modeling / entity modeling and process / event modeling.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills.
Self motivated, able to work with minimal direct supervision with excellent leadership and organizational qualities.
Able to work as part of a management team.
