This position will be responsible to work with various departments and reporting into the site Vice President.
Position responsibilities include :
Maintaining a working knowledge of the capabilities of our veneer suppliers
Maintaining a working knowledge of our finishing supplier’s and internal Knoll finishing capabilities.
Track purchases and inventories of veneer by grade and monitor against floor releases and usage to insure best yield and overall cost performance.
Administering and investigating to root cause all internal and external veneer claims
Working with vendors to assure all incoming veneer specifications are met
Communicating and collaborating with Technical Managers to assure internal specifications are met
Coordinating the veneer flows to assist the plant in managing inventories
Presenting veneer quality data to the plant by separating leading and lagging indicators.
Working daily with schedulers to coordinate veneer flows to assure timely transfers
Understanding the domestic and international veneer market and how that affects Knoll.
Communicating timely updates of markets, vendor issues, and concerns
Collaborating with Veneer Commodity Manager, Plant Managers and Schedulers on a regular basis
Provide input into quality standards, policy, pricing and guidelines for log grading and purchasing and manages operations to ensure goals and guidelines are adhered to.
Associates or bachelor's degree in business, production, or related field focusing on forestry, woodworking or similar
Strong working knowledge of veneer design and working with our designers in the development of new products
Must possess experience in a woodworking environment (selection of veneers species, substrates & grades a must).
Must possess experience with staining / finishing veneer products.
Proven ability to develop and deliver manufacturable solutions (veneer / finish combinations) for Knoll customers.
Must possess experience and knowledge in project management.
Significant experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to multi-task and support various department’s projects.
Proven ability to solve problems.
Flexibility to adjust priorities as required.
