Collaborating with the Maintenance Execution Upgrading Manager, you will manage all electrical and instrumentation maintenance activities to ensure safe, environmentally responsible, reliable and efficient planned maintenance.

  • You will use your expertise to : Uphold Suncor's purpose in your daily interactions and decision making, to provide trusted energy that enhances people's lives, while caring for each other and the earthMaintain a visible presence in the field to develop employee engagement, assess work process effectiveness and ensure that a well-adapted approach to safety is presentHold monthly shift safety meetings;
  • review and follow up on items raised and take corrective actionEnsure that all permit and lockout procedures are followedLead effective incident investigations, implement corrective actions to prevent re-occurrences and develop creative solutionsConduct field level risk assessments assuring our risk protocols are followed and all permitting, hazardous energy isolation and risk mitigation processes are thoroughly conductedEnsure the administration of the collective agreement and our personnel policies occurs in a fair and consistent mannerProvide mentorship and ensure development and competency of the crew, set expectations and hold individuals accountable to meet those expectationsPerform all functions within the SAP computerized maintenance system to accurately detail, approve and assign the work that is performed on shiftEnsure that all maintenance work assigned by planning and scheduling is executed during each shift and ensure plant outage durations are minimized, by maximizing the application of resources without compromising worker safety or longer-term plant reliabilityInteract with the operations and planning department to optimize production;
  • establish work priorities and provide feedback to the operating groups on equipment performance, planning effectiveness and concernsWe’d like to review your application if you have Must-haves (minimum requirements) : Three years of leadership or supervisory experience within maintenance or operations in a heavy industrial environmentA valid Alberta Journeyperson Electrical or Instrumentation Certificate, Engineering Degree, Technical Diploma or Trade CertificateA High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)A valid driver’s licence and a clean driving recordAlignment with our values of : safety above all else, stronger together, operational discipline, curiosity and lifelong learning, act with integrityPreference for : Experience in oil sands or petrochemical industryComputer proficiency, specifically in Microsoft Office and SAPProficient in directing and leading within a unionized work environmentAbility to read and interpret engineering drawings such as process flow diagrams, piping and instrumentation diagrams, piping isometrics, electrical and mechanical drawings and single line drawingsProblem solver who is committed to prioritizing challenging demands and function in a dynamic work environmentA highly motivated self-starter with the ability to make decisions with integrity and support company objectives and policiesContinually seek greater knowledge about the systems, processes and hazards in the workplace, in order to understand not just what you do but why you do itWhere you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other important information : You will work out of our Base Plant Mine in Fort McMurray, AlbertaThe shift schedule is a 7 days on / 7 days off rotation (7 days on, 7 days off, 7 nights on, 7 nights off;
  • 12-hour shifts)This position is safety sensitiveIf you reside outside of Fort McMurray, relocation of your primary residence to within 60 km of Fort McMurray is mandatory.
