What is a Financial Analyst?

Working within the Finance team at the GoodLife Home Office, the Financial Analyst is responsible for creating and maintaining detailed and accurate budgets for selected revenue or cost items for clubs and departments across the GoodLife group of companies.

Provision of reporting, analysis and decision support related to these areas of responsibility is also to be provided by those in this role.

What will you be doing?

  • Budgeting, and forecasting for assigned budget areas
  • Acting as the Finance Department Liaison for assigned business units or departments to assist in budgeting and reporting as required by these groups
  • Analyzing and reporting on results and variances for assigned revenue / cost items
  • Providing effective decision support to the operating units of the business and other Department
  • Making strategic recommendations to the business leaders with respect to budgeting and operational changes
  • Special projects as directed by management
  • Do you have what it takes?

  • Bachelor’s Degree with a strong concentration in Business, Administration, Finance or Accounting required
  • Demonstrated outstanding post-secondary academic performance
  • CMA designation is preferred’ but not mandatory
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant, progressive work experience in a financial analysis, or data analysis role
  • Demonstrated high level of proficiency in analysis of large and disparate data sets
  • Demonstrated proficiency in development of effective budgeting and financial models
  • High Level of motivation, a positive attitude and the ability to work in a fast paced, ever changing environment
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills; exceptional analytical skills and business acumen
  • Exemplary time management, planning and organizational skills
  • Customer service focused, flexible, and willing to learn and grow
  • Establish and maintain professional working relationships with all levels of the organization, specifically with Senior Management team members.
  • Proficiency in the use of computers for :

  • Strong knowledge of the entire Microsoft Office suite, with very high proficiency in Excel critical
  • Microsoft Great Plains and FRX Forecaster is a definite asset
  • Experience with Prophix budgeting / forecasting software and Tableau Business Intelligence software strongly preferred but not required.
  • Working Conditions :

  • Some overtime may be required in order to meet deadlines and responsibilities throughout the year; some travel may also be required periodically.
