Rogers is currently looking for a Senior Platform Specialist, reporting to the Manager of Enterprise Network Operations, the successful candidate will provide technical leadership to 11 Platform Specialists.

They will maintain operational excellence through leadership and teamwork in accordance with corporate and departmental objectives, policies and procedures related to customer service, costs, productivity, and quality.

What you will do .

  • Ability to provide technical leadership and coaching to a team of Platform Specialists.
  • Leading, designing and implementing automations across Network Operations using combination of in house and open source development tools.
  • Reviewing and approving network tools / scripts.
  • Identify and supporting new automation opportunities based on data driven analysis.
  • Serve as the top tier in fault identification, isolation, analysis, and resolution for IP network related technology platforms.
  • Engage in performance and fault analysis for issues requiring in-depth, extended investigation. Recommend unique approaches to issue resolution, including situation analysis, testing strategies, and fault reproduction.
  • Provide expert technology platform support of change control process including impact analysis, method of procedure review, implementation, and verification.
  • Maintain all related network design and support documentation. Responsible for ensuring seamless introduction of new technology platforms and services into Enterprise Network Operations.
  • Communicate with engineering regarding identified logical and physical network design issues and network performance.

  • Reviewing documentation from Product, Technology and Engineering ensuring that it conforms to operational standards and feasibility.
  • Participating in feedback for NPI (New Product Introductions) to Product.

  • Identifying and tracking risks to related Platforms and Services. Auditing network, process, and procedural compliances.
  • Acting as a lead on investigating cross-functional risks in the Enterprise Network.

  • Ongoing continuous improvement of internal process and procedures.
  • Knowledge sharing, Technical Documentation and Training creation.
  • Must be willing to work in a flexible work environment and after-hours conditions (escalation for Platform Specialist)
  • Conducting and / or supporting change management work for extremely complex changes.
  • Adhere to all policy and legal requirements under Health and Safety legislation.
  • What you have

  • 2 years or greater experience in a technical leadership role. Must show a successful history of coaching and mentoring highly technical support teams.
  • Experience in Software Development Life Cycle Tools : Jenkins, Git, GitHub, Ansible.
  • 3+ years experience leading and supporting network programmability & automation in Network Operations environment using any of the following Programming Languages : Java, Python, Ruby, PHP, VBscript, Perl, BASH.
  • Knowledge of Data analytics and Log parsing : Splunk, Grafana and others.
  • 7 years or greater experience troubleshooting in an IP and / or Fixed Network based service provider environment.
  • Innovation / Creative Thinking, Problem Solving / Judgment, Achievement Orientation and Listening, Understanding and Responding.
  • Experience with networking : routers / switches / firewalls, DDoS mitigation, routing, subneting and network protocols.
  • Demonstrated in-depth understanding of the TCP / IP protocol, specifically relating to the routing of IP packets (OSPF, ISIS, BGP, EIGRP, MPLS, MPLS VPN, and Multicast)
  • Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of XGS-PON Passive Networks (Best Practices and Design principles).
  • Experience with BNG Subscriber Management Functionality.
  • Experienced-based knowledge of Nokia ISAM 7360 OLT (XGS-PON) Platform and Residential Subscriber Services, AMS 5520 and related equipment.
  • Experienced-based knowledge of Nokia Service Router 7750SR / 7210 platforms and services. TiMOS / SR OS, NFM-P / CPAM, Software.
  • NRS-II+ / SRA certification considered an asset.

  • Experienced-based knowledge of Cisco ASR and CRS Platforms, as well as Juniper MX-960 is considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment, in an organized, methodical, and pleasant manner.
  • Ability to take ownership and co-ordinate resolution of network related problems.
  • Provide expert technology platform support of change control process including impact analysis, method of procedure review, implementation, and verification.
  • Outstanding analytical and methodical troubleshooting skills.
