This position is responsible for performing major maintenance, installation and repairs of complex equipment and troubleshooting at Aitken Creek Gas Storage.
Champion FortisBC culture of safety by abiding by FortisBC’s safety standards, reporting hazards and effectively communicating with team members.
Acts as a technical specialist, performs thorough skill and knowledge maintenance, repairs and trouble shooting in one or more functional areas.
Exercises considerable judgement in selection of work methods. Maintains and arranges for the repair of all equipment as it pertains to instrumentation mechanics, including preventative and repair maintenance and / or construction projects.
Analyze, diagnose and repair complex equipment failures, control and configuration, and making recommendations for required maintenance;
plant maintenance, daily operating and capital projects.
Acts as group lead as required. Assists Operations Supervisor with daily operations, help direct maintenance staff and act for foreman during an absence.
May plan and coordinate the work of contract or maintenance crews and provide direction and training to other trade persons.
Observe and test the operation of machinery or equipment to diagnose malfunctions. Analyze test results, machine error messages or information obtained from operators to diagnose problems.
Provide recommendations for performance and process improvements.
Manage parts / tools inventories and replacement. Responsible for ensuring adherence to preventative maintenance guidelines and completion of maintenance records are accurate, current and preventative and maintenance schedules are timely.
Planning and undertaking and performing equipment maintenance schedules to minimize impact on operations; performing internal inspections of equipment during shutdowns;
ensure plant production and reliability by effectively troubleshooting and performing maintenance on equipment as needed.
Responsible for the maintenance of truck and tools. Perform and lead instrument calibrations and panel inspections of various engines, compressors, pumps and related equipment.
Repair or replace broken / malfunctioning components as required. Timely and accurate submission of required reports and paperwork.
Responsible for completing site / unit checklists and ensure all are completed accurately.
Perform other maintenance duties as required for the safety, improvement and day-to-day operation of the plant and distribution system.
Be available and ready to respond to on-call operational duties as needed.
Must possess Journeyman Instrumentation Mechanic red seal certification or red seal certification in a related field.
A minimum of 8-10 years of experience in the petroleum industry is required.
Programming experience with Yokogawa DCS and AB Control Logix 5000 is an asset.
Experience with turbines and process pumps is an asset.
Experience with generation systems is an asset.
Experience with refrigeration systems is an asset.
Experience working in a gas plant is an asset.
Must be available to work a 10 hour shift and nights shift periodically.
Must be willing to relocate to the Fort St. John area.
Must be willing to reside in an on-site camp facility for the duration of a work schedule.
Demonstrated knowledge of fundamental OH&S processes and practices.
Demonstrated mechanical aptitude, computer literacy and exceptional organization skills.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and within a team-oriented environment.
