The Claims Risk & Governance Consultant will identify and assess adequacy of processes and controls to mitigate risks within Claims operations across all companies ensuring a strong control environment.

You will develop and execute a control validation framework and methodology, manage risks, for example, working closely with Claims Leadership teams to ensure new and changing processes are appropriately controlled, develop and implement solutions where there are gaps in processes or breakdown of controls.

The successful candidate will join an agile team on a best in class journey. They will be challenged to find ways to do things better and continuously improve process.

Location can be in any of our offices in the Greater Toronto Area; Richmond Hill, Mississauga or downtown Toronto.

What you will achieve in this role

  • Develop and execute a control validation framework, methodology and activities within the Claims operations, including working with key stakeholders to problem solve through root cause analysis and provide input on setting up appropriate processes & controls within key projects.
  • Develop remediation action plans to address issues identified through ongoing control validation and audits and monitor progress to closure.
  • Analyze and present results and recommendations on the Claims processes and controls, identified through control validation, to key stakeholders at various governance Forums and Committees.
  • Strong relationship building and stakeholder management is key as you partner with all business functions, and leverage Risk, Audit and peers around the world to adhere to policy and regulatory requirements and external auditors.
  • What you bring to this role

  • Previous experience 3-5 years of audit and / or risk management
  • 3+ years as a Claims Adjuster within P+C insurance with knowledge of risk and control is an asset
  • Proactive and decisive thinking and excellent ability to problem solve and identify solutions through superior negotiation and influencing skills.
  • You possess excellent facilitation and have experience consulting on risk, process & control assessments while managing priorities in an evolving environment to meet timelines.
  • Proven ability in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Working knowledge of French would be an asset.
  • Related insurance designations CIP, FCIP, CRM
  • Completion of post-secondary an asset
