OVERVIEW

Vertex is currently accepting applications for a Senior Mechanical Engineer in Sherwood Park, Alberta.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering (Mechanical / Mechanical Technology)
  • CET or Registered Professional Engineer with APEGA
  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant engineering experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in electrical controls and / or power distribution products providing or creating pricing details and quotes for customers is an asset
  • Minimum of 5 years working in a manufacturing facility (sheet metal)
  • Preferred experience in the areas of equipment design and manufacturing, machine shop principles, and machine repair practices
  • Familiar experience with acoustic engineering, HVAC and rigid / self-frame building (sheet metal)
  • Familiar with CadnaA and STAMSON
  • CWB Inspector level II or similar is an asset
  • Lean / Six Sigma / PMP experience
  • Hands on experience with 3D SolidWorks & 2D AutoCAD design systems to aid in the design process of E-houses, switchgears and power distribution products
  • Strong analytical skills and theoretical background in mechanical systems includes FEA, heating and ventilation, Acoustics
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in SolidWorks (3D modelling, assembly, weldments, sheet metal, FEA motion simulation), AutoCAD, MS Office, Projects and SharePoint
  • Experience leading teams and projects
  • Ability to work well in a team environment
  • Highly motivated with a positive attitude
  • RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct engineering studies, project scope definition, detailed design and develop engineering work packages for E-houses (Frame Buildings), switchgears and power distribution products
  • Reviewing and improving understanding of codes, regulations and manufacturing procedures for technical and practical applications
  • Lead / Assist quality management system to ensure manufacturing and engineering processes are following internal and external standards
  • Prepare new or customize existing standard engineering fabrication packages
  • Participate in project bidding
  • Develop strategies to support sales growth, customer service and price realization
  • Able to plan and analyze budgets, schedules and resources for engineering and construction efforts for projects
  • Responsible for project management
  • Ability to lead and mentor mechanical team members
  • Create a collaborative team environment while providing an excellent service to both internal / external clients
  • Able to manage multiple projects and priorities and meet deadlines

  • This position will be based out of Sherwood Park, AB
  • This position will require travel to our other offices
