Summary of Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Manager and in collaboration with the Facilities Maintenance Supervisor, you are responsible for the verification and operation of the mechanical systems.

Your key responsibilities are :

  • Perform daily tours of mechanical rooms;
  • Supervise and control the boiler room;
  • Conduct analysis of water samples, steam and add required products to stabilize systems;
  • Open and close the low and high vapor pressure valves as required;
  • Operate boilers, which may include restarting boilers as needed;
  • Provide customer service to users by answering service calls;
  • Perform the daily maintenance of the TSSA data register and the internal registers of the boiler room;
  • Participate in the preventive maintenance program for mechanical systems and other related systems (eg water softening system and filter feeders);
  • Assist the facility maintenance team.
  • Profile and Experience

  • Hold a certificate of qualification as a power Engineer, 3rd Class in the Province of Ontario;
  • Be a member in good standing of the Technical Standards & Safety Authority (TSSA) or commit to becoming one;
  • Have experience as a building mechanic or in a position with similar duties;
  • Have a good knowledge of the operation of various mechanical systems such as boilers, water towers and chillers;
  • Have a good knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Systems and Building Automation (BAS);
  • Have a good knowledge of the operation of pneumatic and electrical DCC control systems.
