Director / Manager, Business Development (Europe)Summary : The Director / Manager of Business Development is primarily responsible for expanding relationships with strategically critical customers in area such as national wide population genomics, precision medicine initiative, leading strategy projects to identify new avenues for future growth.
The Director / Manager represents the entire range of company products to assigned customers, while leading the customer account planning process, in conjunction with the local sales executive, and ensuring assigned customers' needs and expectations are met by the company.
The candidate will directly report to the company’s COO and partner with leaders across the organization to take advantage of BGI Group / MGI’s core competencies.
The ideal candidate will live in the territory and have strong relationships within our current market.Responsibilities : Expand and build relationships with new key account in area such as national wide population genomics, precision medicine initiative, and any strategically important third parties that want to enter genomics market.
Drive new business in Microbiology and Single Cell fields through the identification and development of new accounts as well the coordination of product promotional activities.
Develop and maintain relationships with various public officials and implement all public policies to achieve business objectives.
Provide business insight and value to strategically retain and ensure important relationships with scientists and associated key account.
Establish productive and professional relationships with key personnel in assigned customer accounts across the entire MGI portfolio to achieve sales growths and objectives.
Demonstrate leadership and decision making competencies in adjusting strategy to account for local factors or market shifts .
Build and execute strategic account planning that develops mutual performance objectives, financial targets, and critical milestones for a one and three-
year period.Work collaboratively with Product Marketing, Field Sales, and Field Application Scientists to drive opportunities and awareness in assigned accounts.
Establish global alignment at multi-location accounts by working collaboratively with counterparts in GC, EMEA and APAC.Proactively assess, clarify, and validate customer needs on an ongoing basis.
Coordinate the involvement of company personnel, including support, service, and management resources, to meet account performance objectives and customers' expectations.
Must be willing to travel more than 50%.Education / Experience : Ph.D., M.D. or equivalent degree with related trainings in biological (Microbiology / biology / biochemistry) discipline preferredMinimum of 5+ / 10+ years senior level sales or business development experience in Biotechnology (NGS preferred )Experience in complex and global deal negotiations along with a successful track record in sourcing BD opportunities, deal negotiations, and closures in biotechnology fieldsMust demonstrate scientific knowledge and gravitas to hold / drive meaningful scientific discussions with industrial and academic experts and key opinion leaders in the NGS applicationsA well-
established commercial / academic network is strongly preferred along with a progressive knowledge of innovative alliance structures, industry trends, and competitive issues related to NGS business developmentA well-
