Reporting to Chief Equity Officer, the Advisor will initially focus on playing a key leadership role in the Anti-Racism and Equity program which has a goal of embedding equity in all that the company does.
Over time and as the Program elements get integrated into our day-to-day operations, the Advisor will play a key role in the Chief Equity Officer operating model (to be established).
As the Advisor and a project lead on the Equity Program, you will :
Focus on the delivery of program benefits by collaborating with key stakeholders and engaging with the project team, understanding challenges, motivating them and supporting them
Understand / coordinate the horizontal view (program interdependencies) across the four streams of work (Data, People, Policy, Programs and Practices and Community Engagement and Partnerships), as well as vertical view into each stream of work.
Provide expertise and education with the key stakeholders in each stream of work to create alignment to the program benefits while challenging the status quo and enabling others to expand their thinking and to apply an equity lens to the way they operate
Identify accelerators and barriers in our programs and play a role in managing conflicts and helping prioritize competing priorities.
Working closely with the Chief Equity Officer and the Program Manager to assess the program risks against our risk appetite framework, prepare risk mitigation strategies and corresponding action plans.
You will also evaluate the effectiveness and impact against our program benefits and help crystallize program measures.
Work closely with the Change Management and Communications Specialist to shepherd an integrated change management and communications plans across the Anti-Racism and Equity Program as well as interdependent programs in CMHC’s equity ecosystem (i.
e. Reconciliation, Diversity & Inclusion, GBA+ , Climate Change)
Provide input into preparation of progress reports, briefing materials and deliver presentations on Anti-Racism Program updates.
Build and maintain internal and external partnerships for the purpose of equity.
Minimum Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree in a related field (Sociology, Business Organizational Behavior, Education, Instructional Design, or any other related quantitative, policy, or behavioral field.
Minimum of ten (10) years of experience, with a strong focus on project leadership, building and leading engagement initiatives, as well as building and monitoring success measurements (KPIs, NPS).
Proven experience leading complex projects with demonstrated decision-making skills, strong organizational, time management and project management skills.
A good understanding of public and private sector best practices with respect to equity (data, policy development etc.)
Advanced critical thinking skills and system thinking (identifying and analyzing trends, patterns or connections between issues).
Advanced leadership, coaching and relationship building skills and the ability to carry everyone along without bias
Demonstrating abilities to manage conflict and effectively deal with emotionally charged situations
Strong oral and written communication skills, including influencing, negotiation and presentation skills. (Both in English and French)
Preferred Qualifications :
Knowledge and connection to current academic and practitioner networks in Canada around equity in particular in relation to housing.
A proven track record of advancing equity, inclusion, and anti-racism with a good understanding of intersectionality.
An understanding of the social, cultural, economic, racial and ethnic contexts of equity deserving / marginalized communities through lived experience and / or professional experience.
