The National Director, Business Analytics will lead the program strategy development, implementation, and oversight of business intelligence and business analytics in support of client Accounts, Portfolios, and the BGIS business.

The National Director will partner with both Client Account and Business Leaders to understand the data and analytics requirements and develop the appropriate metrics, reports, and dashboards that drive business value.

This role will support the Account SIMs and will lead a core team of Business Analysts and Managers to deliver business performance metrics and evolving business analytics.

This leader will ensure that the SIM function and RASCI are updated to reflect evolving tools and analytic strategies and measures including but not limited to the Corporate KPI Dashboard, BI Client Account Benchmark Reporting / Dashboards and piloting of business optimization analytic initiatives which demonstrate add value opportunities and measures for Clients and the enterprise.

This role has ownership of the strategic guidance, tool development, implementation, sustainment, continuous improvement, and training of the business analytics ensuring successful adoption and use.

This role also contributes to the development and adherence to enterprise data definitions and governance.


  • Development and optimization of corporate processes and standards including governing policies and continuous improvement of the process of delivering business analytics products.
  • Partner with Client Account and Business Leads to understand the data and analytics requirements
  • Develop the data visualization and user experience guidelines to ensure the Business Analytics reports and dashboards are presented in a meaningful and accessible manner that allows the user to easily understand and interpret the data
  • Develop the Business Analytics performance measurement standard to track the ongoing adoption and use of the reports and dashboards
  • Partnering with IT support to ensure the continuous enhancement and development of Business analytics tools and platforms.
  • Development, enhancement, and optimization of Analytics Programs including business cases for investment.
  • Business Intelligence & Analytics strategies, programs, pilots, and implementations.
  • Tracking, documentation, and prioritization of requests for Analytic Support from Accounts and Business Units.
  • Responsibility for representation and promotion of BA Programs internally and externally.
  • Responsibility for supporting the broader FMO mandate and team in reaching Department Objectives.
  • Leads team in developing tools, dashboards, and processes to manage programs (SLC, Corporate KPI Reporting, Data Governance, etc.)
  • Works closely with Account Teams and data originators to ensure data integrity and quality in BA output products.
  • Day- to- day training, development, and mentorship of SIMs and BA team.

  • Demonstrated technical expertise in financial and data manipulation and analytics.
  • University graduation or professional certification (e.g. P. Eng, CMA, CGA or equivalent courses)
  • 10+ years of relevant experience
  • Effective communications and presentation skills to both Client and BGIS teams
  • Demonstrated experience working with large data sets and source systems and ideally across a broad portfolio of measures and sophisticated data modeling.
  • Experience in understanding source system architecture working with the I / T team to make upgrades and changes and / or interface in 3rd party systems or tools.
  • Demonstrated experience in effectively leading a team, including virtual teams working from locations across Canada
  • Strong computer proficiency and specifically experience and high proficiency with sophisticated analytical tools / systems.
  • Strong data generation, audit and analysis skills, and advanced presentation skills.
  • Strong people development and mentoring skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve results through influence as opposed to authority. There is a requirement to effectively work with the delivery organization within the Client Account groups, business units, and the enterprise Support Teams.
  • Licenses and / or Professional Accreditation

  • Professional Designation (Chartered Accountant, CPA, CGA, CFA, etc.) would be considered an asset
