Our client is looking for a Business Analyst for a contract position in Vancouver, BC .

The Business Analyst will analyze all existing and new business processes, and determine and define the business requirements.

The Business Analyst will ensure that all existing system processes are mapped to business requirements and that all new business / product requests are translated to business process models and functional specifications.

The Business Analyst is also responsible for generating and compiling reports based on the findings, complete with probable causes and possible solutions to systems issues.

This individual will apply proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help maximize the benefit of IT system investments.

  • Lead teams in the development, enhancement and maintenance of case management system (CASE), financial management system (MS Dynamics AX 2012 R3) and other business systems such as DocuWare and Infolinx.
  • Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of wider business operations, customer profiles and needs.
  • Ensure compliance and conformity to existing and / or new business processes.
  • Provide primary support for the operation of systems via requests or incident reports from the Help Desk.
  • Lead or initiate trouble shooting, problem resolution and corrective action (e.g. fix implementation, process improvement).
  • Analyze and evaluate new requests and proposed system changes to determine purpose, requirement, scope of changes, impact of delay, benefit, costs, risks and priority.
  • Coordinate and perform in-depth tests, quality assurance and end-user reviews for modified and new systems and other post-implementation support for work produced by systems staff and outside contractors.
  • Assist with the migration of changes from the non-production environment to the production environment in accordance with the prescribed change management policy and procedures.
  • Work directly with the Database Administrator to resolve data integrity and quality issues.
  • Monitor the performance of key systems and escalate performance concerns to the appropriate resources.
  • Maintain an advanced technical understanding of products, information technology and methodologies.
  • Provide system orientation and training to end users as required.
  • Develop and ensure completeness and accuracy of all system documentation, policies, business processes, procedures and other documentation as required.
  • Provide guidance and mentoring to junior staff members.
  • Other related duties as may be required.
  • Strategy & Planning (Approximately 25% of billable time)
  • Meet with decision makers, systems owners, and end users to define business, financial, and operations requirements and systems goals, and identify and resolve systems issues.
  • Lead design sessions in prototyping new systems for the purpose of enhancing business processes, operations, and information process flow.
  • Review and analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems and develop strategies for improving or further leveraging these systems.
  • Identify and establish scope and parameters of systems analysis in order to define outcome criteria and measure-taking actions.
  • Prepare and deliver reports, recommendations, or alternatives that address existing and potential trouble areas in operating systems across the organization.
  • Assist in planning and forecasting hardware and software needs.
  • Collaborate in the planning, design, development, and deployment of new applications, and enhancements to existing applications.
  • Conduct research on software and hardware products to justify recommendations and to support purchasing efforts.
  • Make suggestions for best practices in implementing new requirements.
  • Perform cost-benefit and return on investment analyses for proposed systems to aid management in making implementation decisions.
  • Work with Project Managers to develop project charters, feasibility studies, requirements definition documents project plans, timelines and other project related documentation.
  • Qualifications and Experience :

  • Post secondary education in business and / or computer science and / or certification / degree in Business Analysis;
  • Special training in project management, business analysis, and technical writing / documentation;
  • 8 years experience within the past 12 years in a Business Analyst capacity in a medium to large sized organization (i.
  • e. an organization that supports 250 or more users);
  • 8 years experience within the past 12 years assisting with the design, development, and implementation of software and hardware solutions, systems, or products;
  • 4 years experience within the past 6 years importing data for use in report software, spreadsheets, graphs, and flow charts;
  • 4 years experience within the past 6 years using issue management tools such as JIRA for preparation of test cases, logging defects and their tracking;
  • 6 years experience within the past 8 years working with mission critical applications;
  • 6 years experience within the past 8 years in the operation and analysis of database hardware, software, and standards, as well as data retrieval methodologies and server-based applications;
  • Proficient in the use of all industry standard BA tools and techniques;
  • A good understanding of project management principles and practices; and
  • A background in financial or case management systems is desirable, but is not a strict requirement.
