What you’ll do :
You will provide a strategic perspective when assisting in planning and executing communications for strategic initiatives.
You will work closely with stakeholders from across the Co-operative Retailing System (CRS) to develop communications strategies and plans that identify the best and most effective ways to reach target audiences for any of the following : FCL’s Intranet, external websites, corporate publications, news releases, media relations materials, strategic priority initiatives, and other corporate communications projects.
You will provide strategic communications planning advice and co-develop communications strategies and plans with the Senior Leadership Team, Organizational Leaders, Business Units, project leads, and local Co-ops to deliver effective communications strategies that aid in reaching business objectives.
You will support public relations planning and execution, including creating and executing media pitches, and planning media events and opportunities.
You will create and edit content for many different communication vehicles to advance the reputation of the organization and heighten stakeholder awareness, understanding, and support of its vision, mission, and business objectives.
This will require fluency in a wide variety of traditional and digital communication mediums.
You will take a lead role in planning strategic communications activities that support FCL and CRS-wide initiatives. You will provide guidance to other functions to ensure consistent voice, tone, and message across various modes of communication.
You will identify opportunities to streamline, coordinate and sequence communication to optimize resources, mitigate risks and improve results.
You will also act as a resource for other team leaders on communication planning, media relations or social media.

Who you are :
You are looking for a career in Strategy & Communications and :
You have a bachelor’s degree in Communications, Business (Marketing), Journalism or other related field.
You have 6-9 years of relevant progressively responsible experience as an effective, strategic communicator in a large, complex, multi-stakeholder organization (a combination of relevant education and experience may be considered).
You have excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to write for a variety of audiences through various media.
You understand and demonstrate best practices in strategic communications planning, project management, change management, brand development, digital and social media platforms including content management systems, crisis communications, employee communications, issues and reputation management and media relations.
You have strong strategic agility, political savvy, process management and critical thinking skills.
You can collaborate with, and sometimes lead, project teams.
