A service-driven paper and packaging products company, Atlantic Packaging has grown to become one of Canada’s largest paper manufacturers and a leading producer of packaging products.

Our organization employs approximately 1000 people at eight manufacturing plants and four distribution centers. We are hiring a Furnish Procurement Assistant Manager for our Scarborough location.

Reporting to the Paper Mill Furnish Procurement Manager, this position is for managing the flow of furnish for the mills to ensure adequate supply at all times.

Add to Saved Jobs Responsibilities : Forecast mill furnish inventory levels in a timely manner and update Manager on issues Source and order Fibre that meets quality standards at best pricing available Monitor the flow of all furnish and be aware of order status and changing requirements Ensure a high degree of communication is maintained between the mills and furnish procurement Maintain the production of Daily, Monthly and Yearly statistical reports Prepare, update and distribute all price advisories Coordinate and assist in the implementation and control of documents and procedures relating to FSC Advise suppliers and transportation companies of any mill down time Handle and advise suppliers about rejections and downgrades of furnish loads and visit new and existing suppliers when opportunities warrant to discuss furnish and quality issues Monitor and review daily gatehouse log sheets to track unloading times, monitor truck flow and prepare reports and analysis Assist in answering recycling questions to existing and potential suppliers Control and monitor the use of outside warehouses for mill furnish Back up in the department as required Other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications : Post-

  • secondary education in a related discipline, or equivalent work experience Supervisory / operations leadership experience within the Corrugated packaging sector is highly desired ;
  • experience in a high volume manufacturing environment is a prerequisite Strong communication, interpersonal and critical thinking skills are essential Ability to organize and prioritize essential tasks to achieve results Able to work rotating shifts as required Atlantic Packaging is an Equal Opportunity Employer and welcomes applications from people with disabilities.
