What you will do
Tyco Security Products,through its leading brands DSC and Bentel, provide security professionals withproducts of superior quality and performance in more than 140 countriesworldwide.
They include alarm control panels, keypads, user interfaces, detectiondevices, alarm communication products, structured wiring and industry-leadingalarm monitoring technology.
This position of Hardware Designer Co-op reports to the Manager HardwareDesign. Our offices are located at 3301 Langstaff Road, Concord, Ontario (Hwy 7& 400 area in the GTA).
The Hardware Development group is responsiblefor the Electrical design of all DSC products, CAD Layout and Componentsvalidation and selection.
The projects involve : Next generation of newproducts; feature enhancements for released products; assisting customers andmanufacturing with technical issues.
How you will do it :
Thisindividual will be working as a member of a project team responsible for systemlevel and board level design. They will be responsible for developing a productfrom specification, through design and testing, to final production.
Theindividual will debug, tests and execute design verification testing of boardsand systems.
Assists in board level design (digital, analog and RF circuits), using schematic and simulation design tools.
Works with other groups within Engineering to deliver new products (Mechanical, Software).
Coordinates work with Purchasing, Test Engineering and Manufacturing to deliver prototype boards to the Engineering Team.
Assists in the specification and sourcing of new components.
Generates design documentation, test specifications and reports.
May work with other departments and groups to support products in the field.
Follows workplace operating and environmental, health and safety procedures and guidelines.
What we look for
Required Qualifications :
Currently enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student.
Digital and analog experience utilizing acceptable engineering design practices.
Circuit layout experience.
Familiar with schematic capture tool(s).
Familiar with PCB layout and VHDL is an asset.
Familiar with product approvals procedures and requirements such as Safety, radiated and conducted emissions is an asset.
Canadian citizen or legal right to work in Canada.
Preferred Qualifications :
Demonstrates an ability to learn quickly and independently.
Strong communication skills (verbal and written) preferred.
Demonstrated problem solving skills required.
Experienced in Microsoft suite of products.
