The Sr. Project Manager is responsible for leading all aspects of small to large scale projects and programs within the assigned solution or technology domain.

The Sr. Project Manager works with managers and the leadership team, translating the product vision into a program of projects in support of the product strategy.

This position is responsible for leading the planning, monitoring, execution, and successful completion of all projects in the program on schedule, within budget and scope, while maintaining quality standards and managing risks.

This position is responsible for Process Assurance; ensuring that projects are planned and executed in a manner consistent with company strategy, commitments, goals, and standards (e.

g. Classic, Iterative and Agile PDLC including infrastructure projects). For this role, the Sr. Project Manager will manage daily activities, timelines and budgets for the MCOE (auction system) and Digital Marketplace projects at Manheim.

  • Supports the maintenance of rolling 6 quarter Plan of Record to ensure alignment to strategic goals working with Business Sponsors, Portfolio Managers and the High Performance Team (HPT).
  • Facilitates the ongoing creation of Business Cases and Project Proposals / Briefs for the program ensuring projects are evaluated, approved, queued and executed in priority order within the program.
  • Tracks and reports on key program metrics and details providing the visibility and transparency needed for proactively decision making by the Business Sponsor via aggregated information relating details like to delivery timelines, budgets and key risks.
  • Conducts regular program status meetings to ensure business sponsors and other key stakeholders share a common short and longer term program perspective.
  • Works with Business Sponsor, Project Initiator and Technical Project Owner to initiate new projects by creating briefs / business cases to be evaluated, approved and properly scheduled supporting the ongoing maintenance of the POR.
  • Leads all aspects of the project management process e.g. planning sprints, leading project status meetings and ensuring daily scrums, supporting backlog management, tracking team progress and ownership of Team Metrics.
  • Monitors and controls projects by managing project milestones, scope, budget, issues and risks ensuring appropriate corrective actions and interventions are enacted in a timely manner working collaboratively with the Business Sponsor and HPT.
  • Develops and implements communication strategies and plans to ensure status, activities, accomplishments, issues, and risks are communicated.
  • Trains and mentors team members on the Product Development Lifecycle (PDLC) to ensure adherence, consistency and overall process efficiency.
  • Provides process leadership, direction, and support to project teams by reviewing deliverables prepared by the team, identifying opportunities for improvement, contributing to the continuous improvement of best practices and providing thought leadership to the PMO processes.
  • Qualifications

  • 5-7 years of experience in project management capacity, including agile process
  • Experience with AS400, .Net based systems is a nice to have
  • Intermediate plus experience working with Microsoft Visual Studio, Rally or similar.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science and or Project Management Certification or equivalent
  • Ability to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources, including upper management, clients, and other departments using expertise as a facilitator maintaining a 6 plus week focus and perspective for the Team.
  • Able to quickly assess what information is needed to make decisions including when escalation is required. Often able to make decision on their own.
  • Proficient at identifying Risk and Opportunities as well as actively managing them to closure.
  • Able to take responsibility and accountability for project success criteria. Valuable as a leader and as a team member completing tasks and / or providing key data for decision making.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new skills including asking the right questions to gain understanding. Has a high level of comfort dealing with ambiguous and new situations.
  • Able to determine which project management processes are necessary to achieve optimal results. Produces an audit trail through their projects.
