Dream Team Coordinator

The Dream Team is a quasi-independent organization of individuals living with mental illness, residing in supportive housing, who have come together to speak out on behalf of the thousands of people in Ontario suffering from mental illness who need safe, secure, affordable and supportive housing.

We demonstrate the life-altering benefits of supportive housing by telling our stories to politicians, community groups, schools, faith groups and other institutions.

Through our efforts, we strive to have more supportive housing available in Ontario for people living with mental illness.

General Responsibilities :

Under the direction of Houselink’s Program Manager, the Dream Team Coordinator plans and administers a community development and educational program in accordance with the Partnership Agreement between Houselink and the Dream Team, as well as the Dream Team’s Mission Statement, and Strategic Plan of the Dream Team.

The Dream Team Coordinator works to secure supplementary funding for the Dream Team program and special projects.

The Dream Team Coordinator oversees peer workers and occasionally consultants working with the Dream Team. In addition, the Dream Team Coordinator supports and works in collaboration with the Dream Team Marketing and Communication Coordinator.

Skill Knowledge and Ability Required

  • A problem-solver and sound decision-maker.
  • Highly organized with a good sense of group process
  • Strong administrative, financial and budgetary skills.
  • Experience, knowledge and understanding of the field of mental health, poverty, housing and homelessness.
  • Knowledge of the political system and legislation, and experience lobbying politicians.
  • Strong networking and relationship building skills.
  • Strong communication skills, including knowledge of MS Office, website maintenance, ability to write business correspondence and ability to write and develop fundraising proposals.
  • Experience in conducting a public education program and facilitating groups and volunteers
  • Conflict resolution skills.
  • Empathetic and compassionate.
  • Program development skills, also knowledge of basic community based research techniques.
  • Sensitivity to and understanding of the issues of people with lived experience of mental illness and addictions.
  • Lived experience of mental health challenges and the issues of the survivor community an asset. The ability to listen and learn from the community is essential.
  • Hourly rate is $30.74 / / hour. This is a bargaining unit position and is governed by the terms of the Collective Agreement.

    Please note that the regular work schedule for this position will includes some Saturdays.
