Reporting to the Pipeline Supervisor and taking day-to-day direction from CG Supervisors, the Show TD is responsible for troubleshooting and general front-
line, first-response support for VFX productions.
Responsibilities and Duties
Work in conjunction with the CG Supervisors to determine tasks and priorities for show issues and support.
Technical troubleshooting of CG related issues for artists and supervisors, suggesting solutions and workarounds, escalating issues to other technical teams if necessary.
Develop software tools of a high quality that meet the needs of shows, ensuring studio-wide consistency as directed by global pipeline team.
Test and validate tools and techniques in production. Work closely with Pipeline and technology teams in testing, and releasing new and modified software and workflows.
Work with the CG Supervisors and Pipeline Supervisor to identify workflow and pipeline shortcoming and requirements for the shows.
Maintain show-specific templates and configurations.
When not assigned to shows, serve on software teams working on projects that improve the efficiency and function of the global VFX pipeline.
3-5 years relevant professional experience in visual effects for film, commercials or feature animation.
Strong understanding of the Visual Effects pipeline.
Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining tools for use in computer graphics.
Proficiency in Linux.
Advanced knowledge of Python scripting.
Experience in one or more of Maya, Nuke, Houdini, Mari, Katana, RenderMan or similar applications.
Ability to communicate cross-discipline and provide innovative solutions to pipeline issues.
Detail oriented and strong, self-sufficient troubleshooter.
Preferred Skills / Competencies
Experience with distributed version control such as Git
Experience with production tracking software such as Shotgun, FTrack.
Experience with render farm management software such as Tractor, Qube, Deadline.
