  • The Senior Mechanical Engineer will play a leading role in a multi-disciplinary project team developing new and innovative solutions for the Royal Canadian Navy and its partners in the Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) domain.

  • The Senior Mechanical Engineer will lead the project mechanical team in defining the mechanical solution; present mechanical aspects during customer engagements;
  • provide engineering leadership to the project’s mechanical team; ensure the solution meets mechanical requirements and has sufficient structural integrity in all its intended operating environments, as well as being easy to operate and maintain;
  • and independently review other mechanical designs across the business.Lead the project’s mechanical engineers to : Define and describe the mechanical solution during bids.

    Support cost estimation activities.Develop the mechanical design, and ensure its compliance against requirements in all its operating environments.

    Ensure mechanical designs have sufficient structural integrity in all its intended operating environments.Review and approve drawings.

    Including GD&TDevelop technical performance specifications and corresponding acceptance testing criteria for major sub-contracts.

    Develop design verification tests (DVT) involving the measurement of key performance to satisfy product qualification.Ensure the mechanical engineering activities are performed in accordance with company process.

    Work with the project team to successfully deliver solutions that meet the Customer’s needs / requirements to cost / schedule.Other tasks as assigned

  • Required Skills : Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical EngineeringRegistered Professional EngineerAbility to work on Canadian Controlled Goods and US ITAR controlled articlesCandidate must be capable of acquiring a NATO Reliability and Secret security clearance Desired Skills : Master's Degree desirable10+ years of Development of mechanical systems Experience in the marine and defence sectors (desirable)2+ years of supervisory experience responsible for reviewing and approving the mechanical designs and associated documentation produced by peers, junior engineering and technical staffDesign and qualification to military standardsPlayed a significant role in design reviewsStructural analysis and failure analysis with the use of vibration theory and or modal analysisTechnical management of suppliers, including development of technical specifications and corresponding acceptance criteriaDevelopment and / or improvement of manufacturing processes and technologies for construction of componentsPlayed a leading role in the transition of a product from design into productionDesign of design verification tests (DVT) involving the measurement of key performance parameters to satisfy product qualificationWilling to use SolidWorks or equivalent CAD toolANSYS, COMSOL, or similar FEA tools is desirableAble to develop, and supervise the development of CAD models and engineering drawingsAble to design systems with mechanical structural integrity for the marine environmentAble to work with and understand the perspectives of other engineering disciplinesReasoning ability : Ability to define and document complicated problems and relationships, collect and document data, and establish facts by direct conclusions or deductive reasoningStrong communication skills;
