  • The Manager, Infrastructure Engineering is accountable for the architecture, design and implementation of enterprise infrastructure tools and services including;
  • Microsoft System Center (SCCM, SCOM, OMS), VCenter, Hyperconverged Virtualization (Nutanix), Windows Server as well as support for non-

    production infrastructure (blades / VMs for Exchange, SharePoint, Skype etc.)

  • Core : Oversees development and implementation of IT infrastructure & platform strategies for Infrastructure Tools and Services for the Bank.
  • In conjunction with their team, develops strategic technology roadmaps and plans future infrastructure solutions based on technical and business needs to support anticipated business strategies and organizational growth.

    Understands current and future technical platforms on all layers including hardware, operating system, security, system services both on-

    premise and in the cloud. Ensures reliable and secure computing and communications capabilities and monitors capacity for the overall environment.

    Implements disaster recovery procedures and troubleshoots any network and connectivity issues in a timely manner, with minimal disruption to normal functioning.

  • System Engineering : Works with stakeholders to implement solutions based on business and engineering requirements. Ensures that systems and infrastructure align with business value and are technically sound and well-integrated.
  • Production Support : Accountable for Tier 3 response to critical issues to evaluate solutions, coordinate recovery and oversee resolution.
  • Some after hours support may be required.

  • Accountabilities :

  • Develops strategic technology roadmaps and plans futuristic infrastructure solutions based on technical and business needs to support anticipated business strategies and organizational growth.
  • Develops and implements IT infrastructure & platform strategies for infrastructure tools and services for the Bank
  • Translates complex business requirements into technical requirements for full end to end system-level solution architectures / designs
  • Acts as the technical liaison between business & operations teams, as well as engineers and architects, providing critical infrastructure insight to upcoming implementations and strategies, including validation of ongoing solutions supportability.
  • Defines and ensures continuous monitoring procedures are set according to the standard procedures and requirements.
  • Analyzes performance reports and proactively identifies uptime issues, making recommendations for eliminating those issues.
  • Acts as an escalation point for complex operational, application and infrastructure issues
  • Facilitates technical issue resolution across technical areas; includes hardware, software, complex operational, application and infrastructure issues which span technical areas.
  • Is accountable for overall system / technology performance; monitors production, outputs, and services to ensure that SLAs and other quality metrics are being met.
  • Forecasts utilization patterns and identifies enterprise wide infrastructure modifications or upgrades to drive performance and reliability goals and continuously improve customer experience.
  • Works across teams to ensure IT system, network upgrades and service pack deployments are implemented with minimal impact to production operation.
  • Contributes to standards and promotes adherence to them
  • Ensures reliable and secure computing and communications capabilities to run the business software while enabling the lowest operational cost / highest availability options.
  • Ensures that infrastructure solutions are scalable, flexible, and supportable, is fully monitored and is as standardized and automated as possible.
  • Implements disaster recovery procedures and troubleshoots any network and connectivity issues in a timely manner, with minimal disruption to normal functioning.
  • Improves program / project processes in order to ensure the best possible deliverable outcome to improve overall efficiency and improve the bank.
  • Supports the execution of key improvement initiatives using data-driven insights to deliver positive financial and customer outcomes.
  • Identifies and defines new process and / or system improvement opportunities.
  • Embraces and promotes new processes and methodologies, including emerging technologies and agile as required, with flexibility to align to unique requirements.
  • Understands and manages scope of complexity that exists across business value, technology, and interaction models.
  • Develops, recommends, and employs productivity aids in all aspects of assignments to accelerate delivery.
  • Identifies opportunities to strengthen the capability at BMO, such as : sharing expertise to promote technical development, mentoring employees, building communities of practice and networks across technology.
  • Stays abreast of industry technical and business trends through participation in professional associations, practice communities & individual learning.
  • 10+ years of work experience in IT or business environment and / or B.S. / B.A. in computer science, engineering, information systems, math or business
  • Experience managing diverse teams (Automation and Cloud-based tools experience a bonus)
  • Expert level in knowledge in domain; Sought out across the business / industry as a subject matter expert, thought leader, and technical consultant
  • Understands infrastructure technologies and technical direction
  • Possesses analytical and problem-solving skills, with ability to analyze a component or components of a process to optimize system functionality.
  • Understands current and future technical platforms from the hardware, operating system, security, and system services layers.
