Reporting to the Manager, Network Development Engineering, the Network Peering Coordinator will be responsible to assist with the development and relationship management of strategic carrier partners and service providers for 3rd party off-
net solutions and requirements. The incumbent will work with carrier partners and service providers to negotiate and manage service contracts for new and existing services while optimizing network solutions and processes while reducing operational expenses for the business unit.
The Network and Peering Coordinator will work collaboratively and strategically among Carrier Relations, Sales, Marketing, Order Management, and Network Development & Operations Engineering groups.
University Degree in commerce, business administration or equivalent.
3 to 5 years experience in vendor management, budgeting, and reporting.
Hands on experience with telecommunications carriers and internet service providers.
Knowledge of MEF is an asset.
Proven negotiation skills.
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Ability to use / customize databases and spreadsheets to produce reports.
Excellent problem solving and decision-making skills with the ability to base decision making on sound financial and market assessments.
Able to use Microsoft Office applications.
Knowledge of the carrier landscape including transport, transit, peering and colocation services and technologies.
Knowledge of Network to Network Interfaces (NNI) and User Network Interfaces (UNI) and similar types of arrangements.
Proven Project Management, execution and organization skills.
Organize tasks, develop and enhance procedures to maximize productivity and efficiency.
Ability to work well in a team environment and have the ability to influence business unit decision making.
Develop core network optimization strategies to improve network performance, manage capacity and increase cost-savings.
Collaborate with other business units to leverage buying power and increase cost savings.
Manage relations and daily liaison with carriers and service providers to support sales efforts and core network requirements.
Assist in supporting and presenting service and product offerings from carriers and service providers to Sales, Marketing and Order Management groups.
Assist in establishing and enhancing processes with carriers and service providers between Order Management, Billing and NOC groups.
Assist in the negotiation of service offerings and contracts with various carriers and service providers for core network requirements.
Initiate core network service orders and liaise between Order Desk and NOE groups for order fulfillment.
Review and approve invoices for core network services.
Assist in managing and maintaining internal applications with up-to-date vendor information.
Assist in managing and maintaining external quoting applications with the latest pricing, building, and service information from carrier partners.
Maintain and track core network service agreements.
Track pending quotes for network core requirements within quoting application.
Provide reporting as required.
Other duties as assigned.
