Do you have a passion for public libraries? Are you keen to use your digital literacy skills to support and promote libraries and their communities?

If so, Palliser Regional Library of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan would like to hear from you! We are looking for a Digital Literacy Librarian to join our dynamic, collaborative team.

As part of the pilot project, the Digital Literacy Librarian will take the lead in the research, development, implementation, delivery and evaluation of digital literacy programming across all 20 of our branches serving south-central Saskatchewan.

The Successful Candidate will have :

  • A Master’s Degree in Library Science / Information Science from an American Library Association accredited program; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in teams.
  • Proven customer service, communication, problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, document, and complete multiple concurrent tasks / projects on time including the creation and maintenance of digital literacy instructional materials and content.
  • Proficiency with digital technology, Microsoft Office and Google productivity software
  • Demonstrated project management skills including program delivery services through YouTube, face to face and / or video conferencing (live streaming instruction)
  • Proven teaching skills / work with adult learners preferred.
  • Ability to troubleshoot computer issues with an understanding of networking and wireless communications
  • Knowledge of public library services (especially in rural library services) is a strong asset
  • Willingness to drive the company vehicle in all types of weather in rural areas and have a valid class 5 Saskatchewan Driving License, or equivalent, with a clean three year Driver’s Abstract.
  • Note : We estimate 106 days per year of travel to rural branches with the remaining work days slotted for sessions within the Moose Jaw area and for course development / paper work.

    Job Description :

    The Digital Literacy Librarian is responsible for developing and executing digital literacy training programs to groups or individuals and evaluating performance of participants to meet objectives.

    Additional responsibilities will include working cross departmentally to further the mission of Palliser Regional Library.


  • Develop courses in and instruct participants in : Using Android / Apple smartphones and tabletsMicrosoft Office products including Excel and WordE-
  • mailSocial MediaBasic G-Suite Training, Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Slides, and GmailSTEAM / STEM programming for children and teensOther courses developed based on public demand and interest (eg : online banking, online business, online farming / ranching / government applications)

  • Create training materials including designing, editing, updating materials used in digital literacy training classes.
  • Analyze and assess performance improvement in digital literacy and participant behavior.
  • Exhibit punctuality, professional behavior and expertise in classroom presentation and instruction.
  • Establish and maintain open lines of communication with all stakeholders in regards to training curriculum and client / employer needs.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records as required by administrative regulations and policy. Accurately enter services and training hours into spreadsheet.
  • Drive year-round in all types of weather in company vehicle to deliver programs in rural branches

  • Attend staff and other organization meetings as required
  • Participate in available staff development courses designed to enhance professional and leadership skills.

    This position has no supervisory responsibilities.


  • MLIS or BA or BS degree in education, business, or a social service related field.
  • Proficient in oral and written communication skills, including interviewing skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), and other Social Media applications.
  • Ability to troubleshoot computer issues with an understanding of networking and wireless communications
  • Valid class 5 Saskatchewan Driving License, or equivalent, with a clean three year Driver’s Abstract.

  • Experience in public library services (especially rural library services) is a strong asset
  • Experience with Instructional Design
  • Experience with Adult learners
  • Salary range : Librarian 1 $22.10 (2019 scale) 36.5 hours per week
