Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, our Director, Risk Management will be a dynamic, experienced risk leader, who contributes to our success by identifying risks and leveraging opportunities that enable Gore Mutual to make decisions that create and sustain value.
This includes developing, leading and implementing enterprise wide risk management practices while collaborating with business leaders across the organization.
What will you do?
Responsible for the leadership, innovation, governance and management needed to identify, evaluate, mitigate and monitor Gore Mutual’ s operational and strategic risks enterprise-wide
Develop tools, practices, policies and procedures to analyze and monitor enterprise risks according to our enterprise risk management framework
Leads the development, maintenance and continual enhancement of the enterprise risk reporting framework that provides clear, concise, relevant and timely risk & capital management information to Senior Management and the Board
Partner with key business stakeholders to provide leadership and support related to enterprise wide risk assessments.
Own the preparation and presentation of quarterly risk reporting to the Senior Management and the Board of Directors
Develop the framework and reporting related to the Company’s Own Risk & Solvency Assessment, including ongoing monitoring practices and annual update
Ensure risk management policies and strategies are in compliance with applicable regulations
Initiate and lead research into perceived emerging operational and strategic risks and work with business leaders to mitigate these risks and seek out ways to leverage identified risks into business opportunities

What will you need to succeed?
Minimum 7 years in combination of knowledge, skill, and work experience in leading operational and strategic risk practices
University degree or college diploma with an emphasis on finance and risk management
Chartered Professional Accounting (CPA) and Canadian Risk Management Designation (CRM) is preferred
Property and Casualty experience including exposure to capital management
Strong influencing skills with ability to effectively collaborate across the business to build a strong risk culture
Strong business acumen with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to recognize and identify critical issues
Confidence to take ideas forward and challenge others
Ability to multi-task and work well under pressure with minimum supervision
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and experience making presentations to senior management and Board of Directors
