Our Tax team works with individuals and organizations in the public, private and not-for-profit sectors, providing comprehensive strategies that minimize risk, meet tax compliance and reporting requirements, reduce costs and maximize returns.


Performance Expectations

  • Demonstrate good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions
  • Make representations and negotiation with Revenu Quebec and the Canada Revenue Agency
  • Work closely with senior members of the MNP tax team and other MNP teams
  • Liaise and correspond professionally with clients, colleagues and tax authorities
  • Identify legal issues; research and analyze complicated situations quickly and develop practical solutions in an efficient and timely manner
  • Contribute to the development of new ideas and approaches to improve work processes
  • Work closely with leading tax specialists; be part of a sophisticated team providing advice to a variety of clients and assisting them in their tax matters
  • Develop good working relationships with a variety of stakeholders
  • Develop a good understanding of MNP’s services, businesses and industry
  • Remain informed and up-to-date on all new jurisprudence and decisions issued by courts in matters of taxation law as well as the new approaches and directives taken by the taxation authorities
  • Actively participate in internal professional development events
  • Credentials

  • Completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or in BA or other degree, coupled with the completion of the CPA designation or a Legal Degree (Member of the Bar)
  • Completion of the In-depth Tax Course (I, II) or Masters in tax
  • Minimum of 2 to 4 years of experience in tax controversy / litigation
  • Completion of the In-depth Tax Course (I, II) or Masters in tax
  • Published an article(s) in Tax journal is considered an asset
  • Broad exposure and knowledge of provincial and federal income tax; possess strong issue recognition and proficient at tax research
  • Strong project management skills and ability to work on the entire life cycle of client engagements
  • Experience with tax planning and / or tax compliance for mid-market clients preferred
  • Some travel may be required
