Are you experienced and skilled in control systems configuration and maintenance? Our team in St. John’s is looking someone like you to collaborate aboard our Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) facility, ensuring safe and efficient operations.
In this role, you will ensure our Control and Safety Systems equipment is safely and effectively maintained in line with Terra Nova expectations.
We operate the Terra Nova field, which is located offshore, approximately 350 kilometres southeast of Newfoundland and Labrador.
Production from the field began in 2002, using the Terra Nova Floating, Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel.
This was the first development in North America to use FPSO technology in a harsh weather environment featuring sea ice and icebergs.

You will use your expertise to :
Configure, troubleshoot and maintain existing control and safety systems (ABB INFI 90, ABB 800XA, and HIMA HiQuad) in line with the software management of change process and the permit to work system
Support operations, maintenance and other technical teams by ensuring control system performance and availability
Support onshore engineering with ongoing control and safety system improvements and provide data in support of Alarm Management improvements and equipment condition monitoring
Respond quickly and effectively to problems and breakdowns
Coordinate, execute and communicate progress on daily CSS maintenance activities
Participate as an integral part of an offshore emergency response team
Report all accidents, near misses and hazardous conditions

Must-haves (minimum requirements) :
Hands-on experience with distributed control systems (ABB INFI 90, ABB 800XA), safety systems (HIMA Hi-Quad) and programmable logic controllers (Allen Bradley, ABB, Siemens, etc.)
A Bachelor of Engineering degree in a related engineering discipline, a diploma in Instrumentation and Controls Engineering Technology, or an Instrumentation and Controls Technician certificate
A valid Journeyperson Instrumentation Certificate or an Interprovincial Red Seal Journeyperson Instrumentation Certificate with the appropriate demonstrated experience will also be considered;

Preference for :
Controls and / or instrumentation experience in an offshore oil and gas environment
Experience in downloading, testing, commissioning and troubleshooting control systems software and hardware modifications
Experience in maintaining communications between various control systems using industrial communication protocols like Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP / IP, OPC, etc.
Experience with control narratives, logic flow diagrams, cause and effect charts, instrument loop diagrams and piping and instrumentation diagrams
Effective oral, written, and computerized communication skills
Experience working with a computerized maintenance management system
An understanding of control of work processes and systems
Collaboration skills in order to achieve the best results and deliver the most value
Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other meaningful information :
You will work onboard the Terra Nova FPSO (transportation to / from the FPSO is provided from St. John’s, Newfoundland)
As this an offshore position, you will be required to maintain mandatory training and certification for continued offshore work
The shift schedule is a 21 days on / 21 days off rotation, 12-hour shifts
This position is safety sensitive
Pay rate is in accordance with Appendix A of the Collective Agreement between Terra Nova Employers’ Organization and Unifor Local 2121
Qualified residents of the province of Newfoundland and Labrador will be given first consideration in the staffing of this position
