Reporting to the Regional Supply Chain Manager, the Production Planner, is responsible for planning production based on internal and external customer demand that meets customer expectations, while maintaining and balancing pre-established safety stock levels and efficiency in the manufacturing plant.

Key Accountabilities :

The following are essential duties and responsibilities for this position :

  • Expedites operations that delay schedules and alters schedules to meet unforeseen conditions.
  • Take the lead in production planning / scheduling by taking customer requirements and converting them into a production schedule to ensure delivery to the customer on time.
  • Coordinate with sales and customer service to ensure that sales orders correspond to company policies concerning pricing, quotes, delivery, dates and minimum order requirements.
  • Release work orders to the manufacturing floor based on the schedule.
  • Lead production meetings from a planning perspective to discuss the daily and weekly production schedule and discuss staffing, capacity and any areas that need to be resolved to accomplish the production schedule.
  • Run material requirements planning and issue jobs and purchase requests for needed materials and assemblies.
  • Work with manufacturing and accounting to maintain accurate inventories of all stock, non-stock and consumable materials.
  • Translate work orders into sequential work schedule : Draws up master schedule to establish sequence and lead time of each operation to meet completion dates according to sales forecasts or customer orders.
  • Analyzes production specifications and capacity and performs mathematical calculations to determine production processes, tools and human resources requirements where appropriate.
  • Plans and schedules workflow for each department and operation according to previously established production sequences and lead times.
  • Review changes in demand and makes appropriate adjustments to order quantities in order to support production requirements.
  • Daily planning activities, including acting on daily MRP exception messages, review of Open Orders above threshold, review of cancellations by regional plants, and review of planned delivery exceptions for high-usage material.
  • Thorough knowledge of SAP required and Manugistics operating knowledge.

  • Planning / scheduling of both manufacturing and packaging
  • Works on Continuous improvement projects and cross functional teams to help improve efficiencies of the plant and the planning processes.
  • Responsible for ensuring Food Safety and Food Quality policies and procedures are adhered to including but not limited by SQF Code
  • The Production Planner will provide back up for this position
  • Other duties as required
  • Skills / Qualifications :

  • Proficient in Excel, Word, Power Point, SAP
  • Able to work with minimum supervision in a fast paced environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of standard operating procedures and ability to prioritize
  • Commit to ongoing personal and professional development, including participation in training and educational programs as may be offered from time to time
  • Ability to work in cross functional environment and lead cross functional meetings
  • Working knowledge of AS400, SAP
  • Education and Experience :

  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in a similar role within a manufacturing environment
  • Post-secondary Diploma or equivalent in Business Management and / or related field will be preferred;
  • APICs Certified
  • Working Conditions :

  • Physical - Continuously sitting for prolonged periods, as the job is administrative in nature.
  • Visual / Sensory - This position requires attention to detail, requiring attention with one or two senses at a time.
  • Work environment - Work and environment fasted paced, requiring ability to remain focused under pressure.
  • Mental Stress - There is pronounced pressure from deadlines, project management, accuracy or similar demands
