HDR is seeking a Track Inspector to join our Transportation Construction Administration group in Calgary to work on rail construction projects.
The position will be responsible for coordinating with an onsite contractor and an onsite team of technical professionals to oversee the implementation of construction inspection and administration tasks while representing the client onsite, and liaising with client representatives.Primary Responsibilities
Provide inspection and construction supervision on Class 1 railway projects;
Maintain accurate daily diary entries and completion of contract documentation records;
Maintain daily photographic records, and videos as necessary to document contract activities;
Complete site surveys of completed works for tracking item and material quantities for payment;
Complete daily inspections in accordance to client requirements and expectations;
Monitoring construction work is in accordance to contract documents and specifications;
Monitoring the contractor’s compliance to health and safety, and environmental regulations and legislation;
Supervise and implement quality assurance acceptance and inspection of construction works;
Report to the Project Manager onsite activities, concerns, and non-conformances, and provide recommendations for resolution;
Provide mentorship to junior staff;
Liaise with client representatives, as required;
Act as client site representative;
Requires working nights, weekends, and extended shifts;
Work may be seasonal in nature, as work permits;
Other duties as assigned.#LI-MP2Required Qualifications
Post-secondary degree / diploma in Civil Engineering and / or relevant experience;
Minimum 5 years’ experience with engineering or construction;
Experience with track inspections on Class 1 railways;
Preferred previous experience working with CN Rail and CP Rail projects;
Be able to read and interpret construction design drawings;
Able to work weekends and nights, as needed;
Ability to work in a team environment and independently in remote locations;
Excellent communication and problem solving skills;
Emergency First Aid & CPR Certification;
Experience with MS Office (Word, Excel, Access);
