As a Junior Accountant at Vena, you will perform a range of accounting functions tied to the Purchase to Pay and Order to Cash processes including, but not limited to : bank reconciliations, cash management, and expense reports.

You will work with various members across Vena’s Finance, Customer Success, Development, People, Sales and Marketing teams.

What you will do

  • Perform daily bank reconciliations of all assigned bank accounts, including preparing reconciling journals, investigating differences, performing integrity procedures to identify stale-dated payments and deposits
  • Assist with cash management including the rebalancing of bank accounts
  • Process expense reports and verify accuracy of expense reports, including matching to receipts and compliance with expense policies through Expensify
  • Fixed Asset accounting, including reconciliations and compliance with Vena’s capital asset policy
  • Support preparation and compliance with filing sales tax returns
  • Participate in process and system improvements
  • Support preparation and compliance of 1099’s and W-9’s for US vendors, T4As for applicable Canadian vendors, and T5s
  • Assist with our Accounts Payable Analyst job duties
  • Does this sound like you?

  • 2+ years’ of experience in an accounting role, preferably with a fast-paced software or high-tech company
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Excel, and experience working with accounting software (i.e. NetSuite)
  • Completion of, or working towards, an accounting designation
  • Post-secondary education in Business, Accounting, Finance or related field and / or equivalent experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
  • You are extremely detail-oriented and customer service minded
  • You possess superior organizational skills with the ability to prioritize, and complete tasks in a fast-paced environment
