Job Description

If you have extensive expertise in corporate law, at both the federal and provincial levels, in all aspects of business and not-for-profit corporations as well as partnerships, this position is for you! We are looking for a lawyer with relevant experience who has excellent project management skills to support or new Knowledge Management team where a host of stimulating challenges await you.

It is a temporary position of one year. More specifically, the Knowledge Management Lawyer will be responsible for :

  • Helping to develop the knowledge management strategy for the Corporate Services department;
  • Working in collaboration with paralegals and legal professionals to draft, compile and standardize the models, precedents and other legal reference material used by paralegals for providing corporate transactional services;
  • Putting in place governance and revision rules for the models in the region of Québec as well as creating a procedures manual for revising and editing these models;
  • Monitoring legislative and regulatory changes impacting the practice and adapting models accordingly;
  • Revising the English and French translations of various legal documents; and
  • Drafting or obtaining any necessary legal opinion to manage the work performed by paralegals.
  • Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil law and a member in good standing of the Québec Bar;
  • Minimum of eight (8) years’ experience in business law and recognized expertise in corporate law, M&A and corporate tax reorganizations;
  • Comprehensive knowledge of federal and provincial business corporation laws as well as the legislative framework governing not-for-profit corporations;
  • Extensive knowledge of relevant legal practices and documents;
  • Experience in legal document automation;
  • Proficient in French and English, both spoken and written.

  • Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills;
  • Ability to solve technical issues in situations requiring the collaboration of lawyer(s), paralegals, and non-legal staff / departments;
  • Good business judgment and strong analytical skills
