The Mothering Transitions Research Program at the St. Michael's Hospital, is looking for an experienced Research Coordinator to conduct research-related tasks as needed in a longitudinal, CIHR-funded randomized controlled trial.

This position will support the actual team in the collection of study data including participant recruitment and consent, coordination and conduct of research interviews and administration of study tools, data coordination.

The research officer also will be responsible for administrative duties pertaining to the research projects including maintenance of study records, quality assurance and ensuring the integrity of study data.

Duties & Responsibilities :

Clerical / Support (50% of work time)

  • oversee the collection and transcription of study-related data and / or reviewing data previously transcribed by other research staff
  • assist investigators / program manager in the initiation of new research
  • assist investigator / program manager in the interpretation and implementation of study protocols
  • ongoing communication with representatives at sponsoring agencies / firms
  • work together with the program manager to prepare REB submissions relative to the initiation and conduct of individual studies
  • consent form design and revisions
  • Research Activities (40% of work time)

  • conduct interviews with research participants
  • standardized questionnaire administration
  • collecting data via phone calls, interviews
  • administration of the Letter of Information and Consent Form to study participants
  • education of participants re : treatment schedule and / or the use of data collection tools
  • Managerial (10% of work time)

  • oversee the ongoing collection, tabulation and analysis of study related data and ongoing review and development of study databases
  • encourage a team approach within the group and promoting a cross-functional approach with other divisions within the hospital
  • ensure appropriate regulations are adhered to in the conduct of research
  • present research related information including written study reports where necessary
  • Qualifications :

  • Minimum Bachelor of Science (preferably with 5 years related research experience), preferably Masters Degree (with 3 years related research experience)
  • Meticulous and capable of independent decision making with study data Basic computer skills, particularly database, spreadsheet and word processing
  • Demonstrated knowledge of medical and scientific terminology
  • Progressively responsible experience in a clerical position
  • Excellent communication (verbal / written) and interpersonal skills are necessary
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent attention to detail and proven ability to learn new skills
  • Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple tasks in a timely manner and flexibility to adapt to changing workload

  • Able to understand written and verbal directions
