Job Description

Social Enterprise Development Officer Intern (Peru)

Light Up The World (LUTW)

There are 1.3 billion people in the world that do not have access to electricity. Light Up The World (LUTW) is working to change that by providing renewable energy and training to remote communities as a catalyst for sustainable development.

Many people living in rural villages are living in poverty and when the sun sets, people have to find other ways to light their homes so they can cook, study and work.

Sustainable energy and clean light at the flick of a switch can help families save money, live in a safer and healthier home environment, and expand opportunities for education and economic development.

Working in some of the most remote and undeserved areas in the world, LUTW trains local technicians and builds the capacity of local service providers to transition to a sustainable future.

LUTW has worked with over 220 partner organizations to bring solar power to communities in 54 countries.

In 2017, LUTW launched a social enterprise pilot project to explore the viability of selling solar photovoltaic (PV) systems to rural communities living without electric power (off-

the-grid). LUTW’s social enterprise is still in the early stages of development and operations are being continually refined based in findings and feedback from the field.

The Social Enterprise Development Officer will support all aspects of social enterprise operations in Peru.

As part of this initiative, the Social Enterprise Development Officer will work with LUTW’s team in Peru to further develop and adapt LUTW’s social enterprise operations.
