The successful candidate will be highly motivated, self-directed and a key member of a dynamic interdisciplinary team with defined roles focused on quality patient care and outcomes supporting patient flow.
The successful candidate will provide excellent care to a diverse acute medical patient population in a fast paced transitioning setting in the Medical Assessment and Consultation Unit.
Ongoing patient assessments and evaluations result in early treatments, consultations, diagnostics and care planning for patients, thereby facilitating patient flow from the Emergency department through to discharge or the transfer of the patient to an alternate inpatient unit.
Registered and in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)
Minimum 3 years recent acute hospital medical nursing experience required
Current BCLS certificate required
Excellent physical assessment and monitoring skills in order to recognize changes in patient status and response to interventions and plan of care
Demonstrates excellent clinical skills, and knowledge of scope of practice with a focus on collaborative teamwork, patient flow and quality improvements
Demonstrates excellent organizational and time-management skills
Demonstrates initiative, flexibility and the ability to function both independently and as a multidisciplinary team member in a fast paced demanding environment
Demonstrates a commitment to a safe environment for staff, patients and families by working in compliance with hospital related policies, health and safety regulations and completing mandated training and educational sessions as required
Demonstrates an ability to collaborate within an inter-professional team
Must be able to deal effectively with patients and family members in crisis situations
Excellent computer skills
