A.S.P. is looking for a dynamic Human Resources Director to join our team. The Human Resources Director guides and manages the overall provision of Human Resources services, policies, and programs for the entire company.
We are seeking a passionate and seasoned HR Director who will successfully partner with our senior leadership team to develop and implement human resources strategy, programs and initiatives that are effective, efficient, and aligned to overall business objectives and that support continued business growth.
The ideal candidate for this role will be motivated to contribute new and innovative ideas, drive business unit performance and enhance corporate culture and employee engagement.
POSITION SUMMARY :
Reporting to the President and Chief Executive Officer and working as a member of the executive leadership team.
The Director of Human Resources is a dynamic leader who fosters relationships with internal business partners to achieve ASP's strategic mission and ensures that all human resources (HR) services and operations are carried out smoothly, efficiently and effectively.
The Director oversees the full breadth of human resources functions, services, initiatives and tactics, offering sound guidance and advice on all HR matters across the company's Aviation and Commercial operations in Canada.
The HR Director develops, promotes and implements human resource strategies, programs, policies and values in alignment with the mission, vision and goals of the organization.
Furthermore, the HR Director will ensure performance outcomes and achievements are strategically aligned with the company's goals and assessed against measures set out by the executive team.
Develops and implements HR strategies and programs consistent with corporate / business strategies, inclusive of talent acquisition, staffing, compensation, benefits, training and development, performance evaluation, health and safety, succession planning, employee relations / engagement and retention.
Leads, manages, coaches and inspires the HR team to provide the highest standards of service.
Fosters a cross organizational team approach by cultivating cooperative, trust-based relationships with management and employee groups.
Supports management by providing human resources advice, counsel, and decisions; analyzing information and applications.
Researches, develops, updates and communicates corporate / HR policies, procedures, methods, and guidelines and monitors for adherence
Directs and monitors cost effective and employee serving benefits programs / packages such as compensation, health insurance, vacation time, leave of absence and other leaves (e.
g. maternity / paternity, bereavement, family related leave, etc.).
Leads the implementation of company health and safety programs.
Serves as the point of contact for employment relations and communication with labour unions and participates in union contract negotiations.
Complies with both federal and provincial labour legislation requirements.
Deals with grievances and violations invoking disciplinary action when required.
Monitors the implementation of performance improvement process with nonperforming employees. Reviews, guides and approves management recommendations for employment terminations.
Manages the development and maintenance of Human Resources Information System (HRIS) to the company's recordkeeping and management advantage.
Leads the implementation of the Performance Management System that includes Performance Improvement and Development Plans and Programs.
Directs the preparation of information requested or required for compliance with laws. Approves all information submitted.
Serves as the primary contact with the company employment law attorney and outside government agencies. Protects the interests of employees and the company in accordance with company Human Resources policies and governmental laws and regulations.
Education and Experience
Post Secondary Diploma or Degree required, preferably in human resources, business administration or relevant field;
5-6 years of experience in progressively senior human resources leadership roles, ideally gained in complex environments that include a mix of federal and provincial labour code and unionized and non-unionized employee groups;
an equivalent mix of education and experience will be considered;
Thorough knowledge of Human Resource principles and practices and experience in the interpretation of Collective Agreements.
Recent experience negotiating a collective agreement, preferably in a service delivery environment;
Broad knowledge and experience in employment law (federal and provincial), labour relations, compensation, organizational planning, organization development, employee relations, safety, and training and development.
Experience as a leader in business transformation and change management initiatives;
Candidates applying for this position must be :
A Canadian Citizen or Landed Immigrant;
Have a clear criminal record;
Able to obtain and maintain a valid Transportation Security Clearance and an Airport Restricted Area Identity Card (RAIC);
Possess a valid Ontario Provincial Drivers Licence;

Formal human resources designation (CPHR or CHRL) is considered an asset;
