Our client, a leader in their industry is looking for a professional Engineer to join their team.
Supervise and provide leadership in safety, quality, cost, delivery, employee engagement and ensuring discipline;
Do safety walk and observe. Handle any unsafe acts and behaviors;
Provide direction and support to report and foster a highly effective working relationship with all employees;
Ensure the efficient and cost-effective management of the overall maintenance, engineering and reliability processes and activities to ensure maximum equipment reliability and assets preservation;
Monitor the predictive, preventative, asset care programs and equipment downtime to ensure equipment is functioning at optimal levels for operational success;
Oversee the planned work of crews to ensure both maintenance and production targets are met and quality standards are adhered to;
Maintain high standards of work performance and correct behavior as required;
Assess the skill gap of the maintenance team and ensure timely on-the-job training is arranged. Ensure the effective utilization of the maintenance workforce and productivity is achieved.
Support Superintendents to establish major maintenance priorities;
Ensure effective utilization of the maintenance management systems including Planning and Scheduling guidelines in area of accountability;
Ensure direct reports demonstrate effectiveness in role and are provided development opportunities;
Ensure continuous improvement towards current best practices based on defined KPIs;
Identify and implement cost reduction opportunities in the department such as procurement of materials for low cost countries and improving the Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF)
Participate in team problem solving activities to address operating area issues;
Must deal with problems caused by the performance of the employee in terms of Incompetence and Misconduct.
Demonstrated success in leading change and driving improvement.
You will hold a degree in Engineering or hold a Mechanical trade ticket;
Minimum 12-20 years’ of maintenance experience in pulp and paper industry;
A strong commitment to safety;
Proven leadership skills coupled with ability to effectively manage people in a team environment;
Knowledge of OH&S Act and Regulations;
Well-developed interpersonal and communications skills;
Knowledge of an electronic based maintenance program (SAP) would be an asset;
A strong background in developing and managing budgets;
Strong organizational skills; excellent leadership skills that include a proven ability to coach and develop team members to a higher level of performance;
The successful candidate must be able to work during late evening when required and must take weekend calls as per the weekend roaster.
