WoodGreen is one of the largest social service agencies in Toronto. A founding United Way of Toronto member agency, WoodGreen has grown to span 36 locations and serves 37,000 people each year.

As part of the Immigrant Services Unit, our Community Connections program supports newcomers to adapt, settle and integrate into Canada society and the workplace through various types of activities.

These activities include Professional Mentorship, English Conversation Circles (ECC), Group Activities, Networking Events and Seminars.

We are currently seeking Mentors who are Public Health Nurses, Physicians or Health Promoters.

What will you be doing?

  • Act as a coach to listen, motivate and guide your mentee with potential career paths
  • Provide insights into your industry and share experiences with mentee
  • Share best practices in the Canadian workplace and provide an understanding of the culture and values

  • What is required?

  • Minimum 2-3 consecutive years of professional experience in Canada
  • Good English communication skills, friendly, active listener, empathetic, non-judgmental
  • Patience with willingness to coach and open to new cultures
  • What is the commitment?

  • Up to 1- 2 hours a week for four months
  • On-going communication with program staff
  • Subject to vulnerable sector police screening
  • When and Where will you volunteer?

  • Meetings are flexible and can be conducted in person in a public place, over the phone, Skype or by email
