The Provincial Assessment Centre (PAC) is the designated tertiary care mental health service for individuals aged 14 years and older who have a developmental disability and a concurrent mental illness or behavioural concern.

PAC provides multi-disciplinary and specialized inpatient assessment and treatment for dually diagnosed individuals. Our team includes physicians, nurses, occupational therapists, art therapist, behavioural consultant, psychologist, social worker, dietician, mental health support workers, plus a dedicated administration and support services team.

In 2019, PAC moved to its new building (Healing Spirit House) in Coquitlam.

CLBC has an ongoing need for temporary Mental Health Support Workers.

The Role :

As a Mental Health Support Worker at CLBC, you will be a member of the behavioural support team that follows the positive behavioural support plans to provide psychiatric and physical care for individuals admitted to PAC. You will :

  • Provide input into plans
  • Develop and implement group and individual goals for clients and incorporate assessment,
  • Observe, intervene,and plan and participate in both group and individual day-to-day care activities.
  • Participate as a member of the code white team and utilize skills as per MANDT training.
  • The Provincial Assessment Centre employs positive behavioural support strategies when working with clients. However, to prevent the client's injuring themselves, it can be necessary to physically separate and contain aggressive individuals.

    As a Mental Health Worker, you must have the knowledge, experience, and capacity to physically restrain aggressive, ambulatory male and female adults.

    Qualifications :

  • Completion of Grade 12
  • Post-Secondary training and satisfactory completion of Health Care Support Worker certificate, or relevant program are required.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience working with clients in a related field
  • Class 5 driver's license
  • Current Occupational First Aid Level 1 Certificate required.
  • Suitability is assessed on the basis of an applicant's physical and emotional health, education background, life experiences, and the ability to work with others.

    Single Site Order : In accordance with direction from the Provincial Health Officer during the COVID-19 pandemic, you are required to work solely at the Provincial Assessment Centre.

    Additional Info :

    This is an auxiliary position. Note : Auxiliaries may cover vacancies or maternity, vacation, sick or long term leaves of varying lengths.

    Classification / Salary : MHSW R13 / starts at $24.67 hourly

    This role requires employees to work shifts.

    Successful applicants are subject to a Criminal Record Check (Criminal Records Review Act) and are required to provide a clean Driver's Abstract.
