Job Summary

This role will support the VP, Operations & Payments in executing the strategic vision for payment methods for Meridian and motusbank.

  • Lead and coach a team of business SME’s championing a high-performance and inclusive work environment
  • Build and maintain solid, professional, working relationships with peers within the payments industry and Meridian group of companies.
  • Identify and track performance and success metrics for payment methods (i.e. ATMs, Debit Cards).
  • Support the strategic direction and implementation of strategy for payment methods, processing, clearing and settlement for the Meridian group of companies
  • Inventory and lifecycle management of debit cards and ATMs.
  • Proactively recommend payment initiatives that support payment innovation for the Meridian group of companies and provide an exceptional Member experience.
  • Coordinate audits and implement procedures to ensure compliance with payment regulations.
  • Communicate effectively across diverse audiences, departments and levels acting as an advocate of payment methods.
  • Keep abreast of current and emerging best practices and technologies within the payments landscape.
  • Oversee financial planning of payment methods.
  • Oversee payment initiatives (i.e. Mobile payments, Payments Canada Modernization Program, Interac Instant)
  • Key Responsibilities

  • Support the strategic direction and implementation of strategy for payment methods, processing, clearing and settlement for the Meridian group of companies.
  • Responsible for enhancing stakeholder value by anticipating and meeting Member’s payment needs (Payment Innovation).
  • Manage strategic large payment initiatives and lead change management. Work as a subject matter expert on these initiatives and collaborate with technology teams and external vendors.
  • Write business cases for new initiatives.

  • Lead and execute audits, analyze audit findings and create plan to address any gaps identified.
  • Oversee the financial planning of payment methods along with variance explanations.
  • Coach and lead a team of subject matter experts.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically, with a strong ability to translate vision into execution.
  • Over 10 years of experience working in the payments space
  • Strong proficiency in payments regulations
  • Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational, analytical and time management skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Understand business risks and exhibits sound judgement and decision-making capabilities
  • Education, Designations, Training, and Experience

  • 10 years or more progressive financial services experience within payment operations
  • 5 years of experience or more in management leading payments teams
  • Degree in technology or finance is preferred
