The Event Management Automation Team plays a vital role in TELUS' operations by monitoring, alarming and reporting on failures within our IT systems.

The accuracy of operational data is crucial to providing a real-time picture of the state of operations. System faults impact the accuracy of the data on which critical decision are based upon.

Our dedicated team of Technology Consultants collaborate closely with many technology owners across the enterprise to develop fault detection strategies and then design and implement innovative detection and prediction solutions.

What you'll do

  • Proactively detect faults, analyze data, and create efficiencies by automating the response
  • Provide domain expertise on monitoring, tool usage and governance to teams deploying new technologies and applications
  • Partner with other technical teams to provide recommendations and guidance on building fault detection mechanisms into their solutions and identifying data that may impact the tracking of overall reliability
  • Leverage your technical abilities to consume data and feed it to predictive analytical platforms
  • Administer and manage monitoring and automation toolsets
  • Perform big data analysis and provide meaningful information using using visualization tools (Tableau, Splunk, Python, Excel )
  • Develop and deploy new products aligned with best practices and standards by collaborating with internal partners and external vendors to understand new technologies and the possibilities

  • You are a relationship builder comfortable liaising with customers for systems, process and procedure improvements
  • Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure, OSs, database and application management
  • Experience with scripting using Python, Perl, Linux shells (, bash)
  • You are a self-directed, can approach problems with an analytical mindset and problem solving skills, and have good communication skills
  • Bachelor degree in Computer Science or Engineering or equivalent education and experience
  • Possess or able to obtain a Government of Canada Security clearance
  • Great-to-haves

  • Experience with BMC Truesight Suite, IBM Netcool / ITM suite, or similar monitoring suite
  • Experience with Cloud platforms preferably Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and SaaS vendors
  • Familiarity with automation technologies (eg. Puppet, Chef, Ansible)
  • Familiarity with TM Forum and / or ITIL standards
