The Opportunity

The City of St. John’s Department of Community Services, requires an instructor for Adult Line Dance programs.


  • To plan, develop and introduce Line Dancing at various levels to adults in a group setting
  • Consult, assist and make recommendations for the program in conjunction with the Community Services - Adult & Seniors Coordinator
  • Perform in a direct leadership capacity in delivery of weekly programs
  • Request and maintain the necessary supplies required for the program
  • Compile and monitor attendance
  • The successful applicant will be required to participate in all training programs applicable to this position and other related work.

  • Recognized training / experience in Line Dance instruction
  • Experience in instructing line dance in a group setting
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience working with adult population
  • Formal education with diploma / certificate / degree would be an asset
  • Successful applicant will be required to obtain a current Certificate of Conduct & Vulnerable Sector Check dated within the last six months of the start date).
  • Hours of Work

    Four one hour classes per week Beginner, Beginner / Intermediate & Intermediate

    Tuesday (2 hours) & Thursdays (2 hours)

    Tuesday’s : 11a.m. to 12 p.m. & 12 : 15p.m. to 1 : 15 p.m.

    Thursday’s : 11a.m. to 12 p.m. & 12 : 15p.m. to 1 : 15 p.m.
