Learning and Development Manager

The role :

The Talent and Organization Capabilities team is looking for an individual contributor manager to join us in our Markham, Canada office.

This new role is focused on making AMD an even better place to work by continuously elevating the learning experience for our engineers across the globe.

This person will focus on the delivery of our enterprise technology development and talent strategy and collaborate closely with our engineering HR business partners and leaders across the organization.

Key responsibilities :

  • Develops technical leadership capabilities in AMD’s engineering community
  • Leads complex, technical learning programs within given constraints of scope, schedule, budget, and quality for AMD’s Technical Leadership Development initiatives.
  • Designs and delivers an outcomes-based leadership development curriculum aligned to AMD’s values and leadership competencies;
  • continuously improve the effectiveness of those learning programs

  • Partners closely with a wide variety of key partners to ensure alignment to business objectives, inclusive of sponsorship and support for global learning solutions
  • Use instructional design strategies and frameworks, conduct needs analyses, assess requirements, and recommend appropriate learning strategies for complex technical / engineering content
  • Provides training consultation regarding effective delivery options : formal and / or informal learning
  • Demonstrate attention to detail in executing and reviewing work products to ensure the highest quality deliverables within approved timelines and budget while collaborating with a variety of technical partners on technical learning program implementation and execution
  • Helps define, measure and communicate learning outcomes
  • Evaluates team specific and organizational development needs and build learning programs to address gaps
  • Provides up-to-date and accurate status information to Leadership Development and HR leadership teams as required
  • Preferred qualifications :

  • 7+ years of experience of classroom delivery and instructional design of leadership development courses / programs
  • Strong communication, facilitation, presentation skills
  • Able to travel globally (approximately 1 week per quarter)
  • Experience with (minimum) level three evaluation methods
  • Experience leading departmental and enterprise-wide learning projects and facilitating meetings with partners
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment with a rapidly growing company
  • Experience working in a global or multi-region capacity, with strong cross-cultural sensitivities.
  • Ability to prioritize work, balance multiple projects simultaneously with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail and organization.
  • Preferred experience with leadership assessments (D.I.S.C, Golden Personality Profiler, MBTI, etc.)
  • Bachelor’s degree
