As an Equipment Operator III at the Southwest District, you will :

  • Operate and care for Grader used for grading and leveling roads
  • Operate other types of equipment to complete the duties of this position
  • Complete minor maintenance as required
  • Perform daily inspection of equipment and report deficiencies
  • Safely operate the assigned equipment in accordance with identified occupational hazards applicable to the work
  • When equipment operator work is not required, perform other duties which may include but are not limited to truck driving, litter control, potholes, various labouring duties, etc
  • Perform all work in accordance with the Branch's Occupational Health and Safety Program and Enviso Environmental Program - ISO 14001
  • Perform other related duties as required
  • Qualifications

  • Completion of the tenth (10th) school grade
  • Minimum 2 years of experience operating a Grader
  • Must be City of Edmonton trained and passed on Grader
  • Considerable knowledge of methods, practices and rules of the safe operation of equipment assigned
  • Ability to operate equipment skillfully, safely and in accordance with applicable laws and regulations
  • Physical strength and agility to perform work of this class
  • Good knowledge of the methods and practices used in operating and caring for equipment
  • Adaptable to changing priorities, whether because of managerial direction or weather
  • Successful candidates will be fit for a respirator, and compliance with the City of Edmonton's Code of Practice for Respiratory Protective Equipment, including medical monitoring, is a requirement of this position
  • Valid Alberta Class 3 driver's licence with airbrake endorsement (or provincial equivalent). Obtaining and maintaining a City Driver's permit is a requirement of the position
