Reporting to the Associate Director Technical Services, as the Manufacturing Engineering Manager (Military), you will be responsible for leading the manufacturing engineering, tooling and programming team to sustain and launch new landing gear components.

You will drive your team to manage and reduce the non-conformances on your product line. You will develop lead time and run-

time reduction plans to meet business objectives.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Provide leadership for Manufacturing Methods Engineering, Tool Engineering, Tool Room, CNC Programming, Material Handling and Quality Clinic to accomplish continuous improvement objectives regarding quality,delivery, safety throughput and cost.
  • Support your team through the daily Tier 2,3,4 meetings, instrumental to the ACE operation system.
  • Provide direction and development for engineering associates by establishing expectations and actions for continued growth and improvement.
  • Provide leadership to all employee activities, including final selection, development, manpower planning, coaching, performance management and engagement.
  • Investigate and implement advanced manufacturing techniques, processes and technologies to provide strategic improvements in quality, delivery, throughput and cost;
  • included are LEAN Manufacturing strategies.

  • Establish goals, budgets and priorities for the department, implement those goals and objectives and measure them for evaluation of results.
  • Quality is Manufactured not inspection, "lead the team to own the non-conformances produced on their products and relentlessly drive corrective actions using various ACE methodolies.
  • Drive empowerment of the engineering team to own the ENGINEERING ANDON's when they occur.
  • Continually analyze with the SIOP team the load capacity on your respective work centers to balance and support the level loaded production schedule
  • Maintain continuous process improvement with safe work practices to reduce cost, improve quality and increase throughput for new and existing methods
  • Maintain product and company reputation by complying with EH&S and government regulations, manufacturing information and records
  • Interface with other departments and managers to ensure timely communication of information to achieve overall strategic objectives.

  • Develop SR bushing into machine shop travelor.
  • Build and launch the rework tracking of std hours within SAP, linking to the QN QAMRB Cycle
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Requirements :

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related technical discipline and 5 to 7 years of relevant experience. In the absence of a Bachelor's Degree, 10+ years of relevant experience is required.
  • Experience in manufacturing
  • Strong ability to read, analyze, and interpret engineering drawings, general business, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
  • Previous experience with C.I. tools with the ability to analyze and improve processes to reduce cost and improve quality would be an asset.
  • Strong ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals required
  • Strong ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers is required
  • Demonstrated strong oral and written communication skills with proven problem solving ability
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and CAD software, particularly CATIA V5, system application SAP
  • Six Sigma and / or ACE Associate training would also be considered an asset
  • Successful candidate must meet all requirements under ITAR and CGD
